Nice quiet train Station that connects Matawan to many places most notably New York Penn , Newark Airport and Newark Penn, you can go to the beach to using the train from Matawan (Long Branch)

I'm sure there is, but the far better option is to download the NJT app on your phone. It will give you live updates on departures and schedules as well as allow you to purchase tickets.
