Let me start by saying prior to writing this review I attempted to contact the doctor, the Digestive Director: Kim and patients relations. The surgeon screamed at me, after leaving 3 messages over a period of a week, the director never contacted me and after leaving messages for patient relations, they too ignored my request to be contacted (so should they respond please contact us - I already did and you should be proactive not reactive). My surgeon has repeatedly refused my request to be contacted via the portal due to being hearing impaired. He actually started yelling at me on the phone todaybc he thought that "would help" in my understanding him (raising your voice DOES NOT HELP communicate with the hearing impaired and they are federally required to accommodate the way I request to communicate). The hospital had no idea I was supposed to be outpatient and refused to listen to anything I had to say until the doctor got there. His response was to threaten to cancel my surgery bc I was advocating for myself. The surgeon asked me how much protein I was supposed to have - I told him 100 g - he admonished me and told me 60 - I confirmed with the nutritionist it was 100. He refused to believe the recovery room staff that i was doibg beyond good and could go home. He kept me until after his last surgery (mine was at 8am this was 5 pm) and i almost lost my ride home. Even though I informed him I was taking a medical transportation company home weeks in advance - the day of surgety he thoight i was lying and wouldn't start surgery until they could confirm (I tried giving many different people at Loyola the info weeks ahead of time and they said there was no need). The staff fot snarky when I asked what medication they were giving me. I could easily go on It was an awful experience not only as a disabled individual, but a person who is well prepared and advocates for themselves.
