My favorite place to bring my dogs for a hike! This park is great for whatever length hike/walk you are looking for - there are plenty of trails to make it a long or short hike. Even when the parking lot is quite crowded, you usually don't encounter too many people out on the trails (except for the stretch of trail leading in and out). I bring all of my friends here, and love that there are multiple areas for my dogs to swim and enjoy the area. There are trashcans at the beginning of the trailhead, but there are no restrooms here so be aware of that ahead of time.

I love this trail! No entrance fee! Pets on Leash! I walked 5 miles along the Fence Line Trail to the Twin Peaks and back - a 3 hour hike. Easy trails to Moderate Hiking. My Mother (82 yrs young) and I (age 60 ) hike this trail often. You can climb the twin peaks (elevation 689 ft) to get fantastic views of Stillhouse Hollow Lake. For a longer hike you can hike along the lake all the way to Stillhouse Park Marina this hike is 13 miles one way and goes from the Dana Peak Mountain Bike trail all the way to the Marina round trip 26 miles. We had to do this in two separate hikes. From the Marina we hiked 7 miles and 7 miles back (14 miles round trip) took us 5 hours including a picnic lunch stop. There is an entrance fee at the Marina Trail head. See trail map in my photos. The only thing negative is parking near the entrance of the Dana Peak Mountain Bike trail very limited parking spaces, people are parking along the road there is a major drop off from the pavement to the non designated parking that can do damage to your car if not careful. There are no restroom facilities and the only trash can is at the park entrance . Many of the trails have limited shade so bring plenty of water - hike in the morning or evenings. People on the trail are very nice and every one says hello as you pass by. The bicyclist are trail friendly too. One of my favorite nature hiking trails.

What an AMAZING park. I am from Ohio and found this on my way to San Antonio. I rode the trails on my fat tire Trek Farley 5. I had a blast. I made a point to speak to people and made friends with 4 different guys. I found the single track the goes all of the way around the lake. They were flowy and sometimes a challenge but not to difficult. I am a roady ( I ride a road bike most of the time) so my technical skills are limited but had an absolute blast.

And awesome hike for the average person. A lot of trails to follow for as long as you want. Some are simple and flat with a couple streams along the way during wetter seasons (but they dry up during others). Also there are a few more challenging treks that will take you vertical, just enough to get your heart rate going. But it's worth it to see some old huts, and a beautiful view on the horizon during sunset in the right places.

some rattlesnakes can be found on the trail keep your dog on leash i recommend
Yes!
The main part of the recreational park is closed but the trails are open for biking and hiking no vehicles on the trails of course and people usually park on the side of the road
No. No motorized vehicles.
They do have overnight camping and cabins at Dana peak. You can do it online @ recreation.gov. there is a fee; its cheapest to make your reservation in person if possible though. All info regarding amenities, activities and pricing can be seen on the website as well. You may also search stillhouse hollow lake on the same website for other campgrounds and attractions near-by. Hope this helps.
Check the map at the trail head.
