The location of Illinois first capital until it flooded. The church has been moved 3 times due to flooding. Very interesting history lesson. Grandkids enjoyed learning about the history of their home state!!

Fun place to check out if you are a history buff. Lots of local history right here. It’s free by the way. A good place to take your kids and have a picnic!

Not a lot left to see at Kaskaskia, but if you are into history like I am, there's some good stuff there. Well preserved. Do your homework so that you'll know what you're looking at and what all is there.

Does the bell still ring out on July 4th every year?

Charles Keene | Oct 25, 2019
EuroKing | Oct 25, 2019

No it cannot. This is because the bell was washed out of its stand during the flood of 1993 widening a crack and making it unable to be rung again.

Is the Kaskaskia liberty Bell of the west accessible today July 20th in Kaskaskia or is it in another location?

At this time it is inaccessible due to flooding, all roads leading to the bell are water covered
