Why do you even exist? Called to report an owl - a protected species - that may or may not be injured in Urbana, IL and rather than take any constructive action you passed the buck to notify Illinois Dept of Natural Resources which only had a voice recorded message. PATHETHIC!!! Obviously you lack any sense of dedication.

Brought my parrot in for an emergency. Waited 3-4 hours. The tech came back to tell us the Exotic vet was not coming in because it was a holiday weekend (Labor Day). So I left very disappointed. Why did they not call the Exotic Vet when I first got there instead waiting 3-4 hours, then to tell me the vet was not coming in because of the holiday weekend. So I left. I was not excited driving back home , I had an hour's drive home. Now I have to drive back an hour for my next appointment for my parrot.

Questions & Answers

I found 2 baby mice with fur and eyes closed, one is injured and I am pretty sure that their mother has not come back. I can’t care for them myself and don’t want them to starve what should I do?

You can call us at 217-244-1195 for options. If nobody is available to answer, and you can safely bring the injured mouse to the Wildlife Medical Clinic, we are happy to assess the animal and provide any medical care necessary. Thank you for your care and concern.

On my way to work this morning, 6/21/21 travelling North on Duncan, as I crossed Curtis Road, a juvenile goose limped across the road to the field on the West. It has an injured left wing and was limping. Are you able to check on the poor baby?

Thank you for reaching out! Unfortunately, we do not have the staff or resources to be able to engage with most rescue missions that come our way. Limping waterfowl, in particular, are challenging to catch as most can (and will) fly away during the rescue attempt. If you (and a friend!) are interested in trying to catch this bird yourself, please give us a call and we would be happy to talk you through strategies on how to do this. Our number is 217-244-1195. Alternatively, you could consider hiring a Wildlife Control Officer to help catch him; a list of those individuals can be found at this site: https://www.wildlifeillinois.org/class-a-operators/. If the bird can be caught, we are happy to assess him and provide any medical care necessary. Thank you again for reaching out and your efforts to advocate for this goose!

just received a raptor, I think an owl; fledging; fully feathered; I'm feeding it canned cat food. Is there a wild bird rescue group in my area: Kankakee area? I could probably raise it, but a professional would be better.

The U of I Champaign Urbana is great. They will help you.

There is a wild rabbit who cannot walk and looks like it has a brain injury in my yard. What should I do? Do I need to take it somewhere, or have someone pick it up?

Call your local wildlife preserve, or that's what I do in Peoria county.

Will you pick up an injured wild bird?

They do not. However, a phone call to the clinic may be able to help guide you as to what can be done.
