I was advised by my electrophysiologist (EP) to check out sleep apnea and tests showed I had a pretty severe case. I tried CPAP but could not handle the mask, blowing air, etc. My EP suggested an oral device and I went to a dentist who specialized in that treatment. It started to help immediately but all the costs were out of pocket- he did not take insurance. After about a year, I went to see Dr. Levy as I had seen his advertising numerous times. He takes insurance so I have not paid anything out of pocket and his device has helped cut my number of episodes by half. Dr. Levy is efficient and effective, his staff is knowledgeable and accommodating, and his offices are spotless. I recommend Sleep Better Columbus without reservation.

YES they can !! Especially as they grow the parts of their upper airway might not grow in proportion and less space exists for adequate airflow. The adenoids or tonsils, if enlarged can make it easier for occlusion of the upper airway and result in snoring or apneas. Finally an overweight or obese child (or adult) has a higher risk of sleep apnea as the extra fat in their pharynx means it blocks off more readily when their tongue and throat muscles relax.
