We took a day trip to Lawton, Ok to familiarize ourselves with the area. To our surprise there was a museum on Ft.Sill and being as it was Memorial day weekend it was a natural fit to explore. The machinery is well maintained, marked and the history on display for all to see around a well maintained walking trail. We weren't able to visit the inside of the museum due to our timing and hours of operation. Immersing ourselves to glimpses of the history of WW1, WW2, OEF, OIF and the lives lost in pursuit of our freedoms and political pursuits made for an open forum conversation with our sons in honor of those who came before.

Most excellent place to view US Army military history. Highly recommend.

Good representation of different era equipment. Only complaint is to preserve them better. Not sure if they need to have a cover (tent) over them or how they can be kept from the elements but they are worth preserving.

It's free, plenty of parking. Good walk thru historic artillery and air defense pieces. Each piece has a plaque providing details.

Is it on fort sill? Do you need a DoD I.D to get to it?

Yes, the museum and outdoor displays are on Fort Sill, however due to changing regulations I am not sure if you still need a DoD ID.
