Madison Blue Spring is an easily accessible spring just off of the Madison Blue Springs state park entrance. From the second parking lot, there are 2- similar. There are multiple picnic tables and 3 pavilions with grills and trash cans. Hiking trails and a volleyball area. The spring is well maintained as well as the trails leading to the river. No lifeguards. Temperature is a constant 72 degrees-very cold. You immediately feel the difference in temperature when you swim from spring to river water! The spring is over 20ft deep in areas, specially the area leading to the underwater cave system. (There is a locked grate over)

Easily a family favorite of all the springs we've visited. From the picturesque crystal clear blue water to the neat colors where the spring meets the Withlacoochee River it was just beautiful π Definitely bring a mask and snorkel to check out the underwater life.

Beautiful park with a cold, refreshing spring that's great for swimming. You can also hike, camp, observe wildlife and if you're certified, you can also scuba dive in the cave system. The family had a lot of fun!
Our Great Adventures
We loved it here. The water was gorgeous. The rangers were kind and knowledgeable. We swam in the chilly but beautiful spring. My kiddos earned a Jr. Ranger patch by completing the tasks. We even got to watch divers coming up on one of our visits. Go visit!!

Yep
There is not a charge for the pavilions. It is just whomever gets there first.
The river which is attached is open for fishing. Only a 25-50 yard walk from spring to river. No fishing directly in the spring as there will probably be people swimming.
I'm not certain as of right now but it should be. It is going to be best to call. That's the best advice I can give.
Yes but not in the water
They're open.
No. I think you could rustic camp there once upon a time, but not now. Kind of a bummer.
Doubtful that they'd fill on a weekday. Last few times we've gone on a weekend, we were able to get in after noon. They'll prob allow people to reenter around 4pm after a bunch of people leave. So there's a chance you could get in later if you miss it. But i highly doubt they'll fill on a Monday. Enjoy!
Yes it is still 5 dollars
7 days a week as far as I know. It's best to call.
I hve seen animals there bit I believe you most hve them on a leash and I wld make sure they hve their rabies tag or you hve the proof of rabies certificate with you. I am not sure if they check that.
If you paddle from Madison, you can only do so upriver if you want to come back the same way. Going downriver you'll encounter some rapids and rocks and you'll have to keep going. Plan a trip, bring your own kayaks (the park does not rent anything), put in at Madison and take out at Suwannee River State Park (make sure to shuttle vehicles so you have a ride back to Madison). They don't allow overnight vehicles at Madison.
Never had an issue, I've seen it busier during the week then weekend for the last 2 weeks
You can bring your own grill as long as it is a table top
I went last weekend (8/4/18) and it was "closed to swimming until further notice" due to the river being higher than normal from recent rainfall, flowing back into the spring. It's currently a cloudy mess.
Note: Madison Blue Spring is on the Withlacoochee River, not the St. John's.
My answer would be no...I'm not sure where there is parking on the side of the Hwy is as mentioned in an earlier answer. You would most likely be blocking part of the 2-lane road (Hwy 6). As far as parking in the park, it is all dirt & not built for semi's...very narrow.
I have been swimming there for years an never got any suntan oil on me. Plus it's so darn cold in there as the water is 71Β° I usually wear a wet suit. Actually pee isn't a pollutant anyway in this spring it's constantly flowing so no stagnant water ever stays. The water is crystal clean with a bluish tint to it. They never chlorinate it thank goodness. Hey bring your mask an snorkel you will be able to see a whole new world under there.
Yes you can swim on the weekends
Absolutely, while we were there a group of kayakers came in and hung out.
We were there last Sunday same thing trails are open Park was open but no swimming water was up over all of the wooden boardwalks and looked murky. Still walk the trails and had a nice time plenty of parking on Sunday
Maybe if its not busy you could park sideways but it may be tough otherwise
All I can say is just keep calling someone will answer.
I am from Georgia too. It was nice. Water from the spring is around 70 but the river is warmer. Nice day trip.
I don't see why they wouldn't be... There's a pay box to get in into it so it's un manned
Yes camping is allowed has a nice place for you to set up tents
No camping at Madison blue springs
The forecast is calling for very nice (but hot) weather this weekend. Very slight chance of rain.
Yes, the rain water has went down and the springs are open.
This is just a spring it's not a campground
Madison blue springs charges 5 per car but no fee at blue springs in Madison
Spirit of Suwannee state park has a back entrance right Hwy 90. Camping for Tents an RVs an you can also rent there trailer cabins there also. Suwannee River use you can rent canoes an there's a cafe there really delicious foods. And there karaoke on Thursday night's an Friday an Saturday nights there live bands an that free admissions. There's camping year round..
No, try Manatee Springs State Park in Chiefland, Florida, Ichetucknee Springs State Park or Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, where a floating underwater observatory allows you to see manatees and salt and freshwater fish swim by you through glass windows. You'll also be able to hear the manatees squeak!
It will probably stay open on weekends until cooler weather
Yes. Hours 8 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year Fees $4-5Β per vehicle. $2Β Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers. Location 8300 NE State Road 6Β Lee FL 32059
365 days a year, yes.
I will be going by there in a few hours and I will let you know for sure. I just went past Blue Springs it looks to be that they are open
Closed for swimming as of 8/4/18, due to flooding from the river.
If there is no deck anymore and there is a fence or rail around the spring as posted by others ...... Is swimming in the spring still allowed ???...(just asking)
No hunting and if trying to fish a lot of rocks are around so be prepared for that
Closer to the river the spring flows into, there is a place kids could play.
Itβs possible walk for electric chair in board walk??
