Exceeded expectations in basically every way. Great hike for little kids. Exploring the closed campground was actually a spooky/cool bonus. The trail is clearly still being maintained and is totally worth it.

Visited on 4/17/22. Really beautiful trail. I am not sure that 'easy' is the correct definition. Maybe moderate is more suitable. There are several elevation changes, especially very close to the trailhead. There are one or two places with tree logs on the trail, and you should pass them somehow. The river is absolutely beautiful with many peaceful locations. Strongly recommended!

It was beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Hard to see the falls from the longer trail but the river was worth hiking down for.

Parking was still available out in front of the gate on a Saturday in June at 10:30. There were a few other groups, but it didn't seem busy. Our 2 year old had to be carried sometimes on the canyon trail, but our seven year old was fine. It was cool down by the river on a very hot day.

Questions & Answers

Are dogs allowed on leash?

I'm sure they are. I would keep it on a leash anyway for safety..(bears n other wildlife)... don't want any surprises. It's a closed area that used to be a public campground, but hiking is permitted. It's very large and vast and beautiful.

Is this still open ? Last time we went it was closed due to logging

I just hiked at this location a few days ago. The campground is closed, but there's an informal parking area at the entrance gate, from where you can park your vehicle and walk to access the trails, which are open and traversable. Technically, this site is closed, but it remains safely accessible, and each time I pass by there are usually 1-3 vehicles parked by other visitors. It's a relaxed closure.
