I was at the wrong location but the young lady at counter was friendly and helpful. She even took the time to help me find the right destination.

Another rejection for job applicants in response to a computer generated email? That is hard to say and based on what criteria? I want to know why and how Foundation Communities does your work? I am an instructor since 1997 and never any complaints. The reason I continue over and over to apply for jobs at Foundation is because in 2018 your organization was very supportive to me. I never lived there but you gave me resources and direction. Truth be told, I truly want to give back to your organization and do good work! Feels like Foundation Communities discriminates? I have many years as an office manager, worked in hospitality and several start ups! I have applied for those jobs in the past and consistently get your courtesy as a phone call? Please let me know your criteria? It really is dismissive and to continue to reject truly good people that want to give back freely to Foundation Communities! Who is your senior hiring manager? May I suggest for applicants take the time to give generously and courtesy to at least a phone interview. Foundation Communities clearly does not care about people!

What is considered low income. I see apartments say low income at the $900+ ranges. Most people cannot afford those prices. My budget is very tight.

Not an easy subject to quickly describe. Affordable Housing uses HUDs calculation of the area's Median Family Income to determine "affordability". In Austin (the fastest growing city in the US), for 2019, the Family Medium Income for a family of 4 is $95,600.00 per year, and you will base your search on this number. Properties that advertise themselves as "affordable" will likely have a range of units, some at say 30%, 40% and 50% (typical). So, if your family makes less than 30% of the FMI you would look for properties advertising they take residents at 30% of FMI. The discussion becomes much more complicated if you are single. To learn more, Google "Family Medium Income".

I currently work for foundation community's in residential svc. My question is am I allowed to purchase a compact washer and dryer that has the proper hookups and exhaust at Capital Studios. If not why?

Michael Donovan | Oct 24, 2019
Paul Mullen | Oct 23, 2021

I don't have specifics for that property but in general hook ups for washer and dryer have to be built in when the apartment is constructed. For example a dryer needs a 4" vent to outside and a washer needs water supply and a 2" drain. Most efficiency units don't have enough space, so prefer to provide a communal laundry room.

Is this just an office or housing?

This location is the main office for Foundation Communities; there is not housing at this site.

This present manager has written me up four times in two weeks over something we could have easily talked about. I have memory loss, severe nueropathy and these write ups affect my housing. This gal is a humanitarian but picking on a terminal disab

Jim Younger | Oct 24, 2018
Robbie M | Oct 24, 2019

doesn't sound too humanitarian to me! No notice or contact before writing you up is absurd. Contact Legal Aid for help. The "gal" is probably discriminating against you.

My daughter is about to be job less and homeless. She has 3 kids under the age of 5yrs. What help can community help with?

I know there is a program called children's home initiative. They might be able to place her and her littles in a home. Otherwise she might have to go through a shelter.

How do I sign up for the program with a 4 month old daughter

Jackie Nicholson | Oct 23, 2020
Lequita Daniels | Oct 23, 2020

You go to foundcom.org and print out the application then return it to the office. Make sure to have check stubs and all the required paper work specified on the cover page of the application.

What is considered low income? My rental budget is very small.

David G. | Oct 24, 2019
Paul Mullen | Oct 23, 2021

There are units available at several different affordability levels ranging from 30% mean income to 80% mean income. Projects aided by low income tax credits specify how many units they will offer at each level.

Why are there never any apartments available even though the rent is still high?

Nicholas | Oct 24, 2019
Foundation Communities | Oct 24, 2019

Rental rates depend on income and vary depending on the property. There are many people on the wait lists because there is great need for affordable housing in Austin. You can call our main office for more information 512-610-4010. In addition, we have a new community opening in the fall and another in the process of being built, and expected to open in 2020.

What is average cost for long term care for brain injury with supervision group living

Candy Schlief | Oct 24, 2019
foundcom1 | Oct 24, 2019

Thank you for your question. We are not a long-term care facility. We provide affordable housing and wrap-around services for our residents, some who do have medical needs, but we do not provide a supervised group living housing community.

Can I get help with my taxes here?

Ryan Rice | Oct 24, 2018
maryexplosion | Oct 24, 2018

You can get free tax help though this organization, but not at this location. This is the corporate office. Look on their website for Community Financial Center and you'll see an address for a location south on Stassney and north on Airport.
