Questions & Answers

How does one get on the list for a COVID-19 vaccination? From what I hear the window for the week closes before people can sign up. Now it's open for over 65 before the over 75 group was served. This seems like a total lack of planning to me!

Exactly it’s political my mother is 95 people 30 years younger get the vaccine because they dial the phonefaster It’s not fair why bother putting your risk factors in the questionnaire??? They don’t pay attention I’d give my mother mine. I’m 70 if I got signed up which I’m not even trying I don’t want my mentally and physically healthy basically, to get sick , die because a 65 year old was faster to sign up I call constant for 8 minutes we’d and we’ll it was filled What a freaking joke Government wants to look good so opens to younger and younger. Makes other states think we are being served well , heck going down in age must be getting all the older folks done quickly Makes me angry and ... I usually never get angry but my mothers life is worth something along with many many older people as well Don’t get why they bothers to say older people first It’s a farce

When will Covid shots be given to to older adult??

Supplies of the vaccine are limited, so we must offer it in phases. We are currently providing COVID-19 vaccines to people in Phase 1a, which includes healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients, people giving vaccines, and long-term care staff and residents. Vaccinations for people in Phase 1b are expected to start in mid-January. This includes people over age 75 in Phase 1b Group 1, followed by healthcare providers with direct patient contact and frontline essential workers over age 50 in Phase 1b Group 2, and then other healthcare providers and frontline essential workers in Phase 1b Group 3. More information about vaccine phases is available at https://transylvaniahealth.org/covid-19-vaccine-info/. As more details become available about when and where the vaccine will be offered in Transylvania County and how you can sign up, we will share it widely: on our website, our social media accounts, and to local newspapers and radio stations.

Health Dept or urgent care

I was notified by the health department that at 1 pm Monday, you could register for an appointment. I called at 1pm, and the site said all appointments are taken.........i cannot understand how all doses were gone at 1:01 pm... Russell Trail age 70

Appointments opened promptly at 1 pm, and all appointments were filled using the online scheduling system or the call center. However, there is a very high demand and a very limited supply. The state is only allocating 200 doses each week for about 9,000 eligible county residents.

How long should I quarantine myself after my kids were here for Thanksgiving and left the next morning. They live in Florida.

Nancy Clark | Oct 23, 2021
Transylvania Public Health | Oct 23, 2021

You are not required to quarantine unless you have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19. However, if you would like to do so out of an abundance of caution, we would recommend that you stay home for 14 days after an exposure OR 10 days with no symptoms of COVID-19 OR 7 days with a negative test after day 5 and no symptoms of COVID-19. Please continue to monitor your symptoms through day 14 and seek testing if you develop symptoms of COVID-19.

No-Cost Community Testing from NCDHHS is available this weekend in Buncombe, Henderson, and Jackson counties; for times and locations, visit https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/about-covid-19/testing/find-my-testing-place/pop-testing-sites. Free testing for COVID-19 will be available in Transylvania County at Brevard Music Center on Thursday, November 19 from 4 to 7 pm; for more information, visit https://www.brevardmusic.org/about/testing/. Testing for COVID-19 is also available from other healthcare providers in the county, but many providers only offer testing for people who have symptoms or have been a close contact to someone with COVID-19. Options include Blue Ridge Health, Mercy Urgent Care, Pardee Urgent Care, and other private providers. To find testing locations, visit https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/about-covid-19/testing/find-my-testing-place or call 884-4007 to speak with a nurse at Transylvania Public Health.
