I've lived in a Meadowmont duplex at GHF for almost 4 years now and have loved every minute of it. The staff and the residents are exceptionally friendly and supportive. We have regular neighborhood gatherings and dinners in addition to all of the planned GHF activities. It is a real community where everyone truly cares about each other.

Everpresent mountain views and walkable paths are invigorating. Not having to cook dinner every night is priceless. Many opportunities to explore new ventures is stimulating. But the best part of Givens Highland Farms is the people; Sharing meaningful friendships feeds the soul.

Givens Highland Farms is located in beautiful Black Mountain on a natural and walkable campus. We are close to shopping, and close to Asheville, but with less traffic. The best part about GHF is the people. Residents are warm, interesting, unassuming, and active. Moving into a retirement community is often harder for men, but here we have a welcoming group of men who enjoy fellowship without pressure, obligation or judgement. Friendships are made easily here and the many activities foster common experiences around shared interests. We are a varied group. Some like poetry, some woodworking, some golf, some mountain hiking some theology and much more. Whatever it is, there probably are similar minded residents. I have participated in woodworking, bicycling, book discussion, College for Seniors, a men's fellowship group, hiking and more. When I feel like being more introverted, there is privacy and a surprisingly good library. Staying active keeps us young, but when we need help, it is there. The refrigerator quit and a replacement was here in an hour. I was unable to walk for a time with leg spasms and the physical therapist here had me diagnosed and restored in a couple of weeks. Meal service on demand is priceless. What a blessing is this place.

We are not a rental community. We are a life plan community which means our residents pay an entrance fee which serves as an agreement that they will receive quality healthcare in the future. In addition, there is a monthly service fee that covers many of your typical household expenses, including a monthly meal allowance, weekly housekeeping, utilities, interior and exterior maintenance, landscape maintenance, scheduled transportation, security, and an urgent call system. You also have access to all the amenities on campus, including an exercise studio, beauty and barbershop, woodshop, arts and crafts studio, extensive library, winter greenhouse, community garden, and so much more.
Yes! These are lots of dogs here, and cats too!
I am honestly not sure. You can call them and they will tell
Our residents have been enjoying table service, but when you want to pick up something for home, you can order meals for carryout or delivery by calling or emailing our Dining Services team. You can also bring a menu and order in person.
Givens Highland Farms is not an Assisted Living facility. Our campus is a continuing care retirement community. A CCRC is a place where you have access to multiple levels of care on a single campus. We'd be happy to explain this more in-depth. Please give us a call at 828.357.3621.
Our community does not have a golf course, but there are courses in the local area. Black Mountain Golf Course is just a few minutes away.
