If you are looking for a truly immersive Monument Valley camping experience, Sleeping Bear Campground is your go to place! There are no hookups and only a small mobile toilet cabin. But in return you get absolutely amazing views on stunning monument valley rock formations, quiet sites, beatiful sunsets with a lot of privacy (there are less than 10 sites here). We absolutely loved it here and will definitely be back. We can 100% recommend this place to all nature loving campers going to monument valley. If you can do without Hookups and Infrastructure, you will love it here. We stayed in site No 3. We could fit two 30 ft Class C Motorhomes and a Car on it. Payment was due per RV, not per site (still was totally worth the money). The last bit of road is unpaved, but we found it not too difficult to drive in with our 30ft vehicles. As I have not seen any reviews with RVs for this place so far I can definitely assure you all that it is no problem to stay here with a motorhome <30 ft. I have not tested for longer vehicles ;) In a nutshell - Full monument valley nature immersion - Perfect star gazing conditions - Super fair fee (20$, but only cash accepted). The host comes by after dark to collect the fees. - Nice picnic tables with a little shade roof and night time light (we counted 5 sites with tables) - Fixed BBQ (bring your own wood/charcoal and observe local fire policy) - Good Mobile coverage (ATT and T-Mobile tested) - Lot of privacy, neighboring sites are far away - Not close to Highway - Wild horses passing by - Red Sand everywhere - Generator use possible - First come first serve (we came in at 4 PM, only one site was occupied, until dark only one other party arrived) - 1 Mobile toilet cabin for tent campers - Works for tents and RVs (<30 ft tested), trailers probably too, but i have not personally tried it

This spot is a hidden gem off the road. The campsites are nice and spacious with plenty of scenery all around. The bathroom was clean and tidey. I really enjoyed talking with Kirby Blackwater and his wife. It was very cool to get a little background history of their beautiful land. Thanks for sharing your home/land with us. Hope to cross paths again one day.

Strange place… can’t deny that the views and setting are amazing, but we got approached by a drunk man claiming to be a relative of the owner. Asked us for the $20 for the night but said we can pay now or later… I asked for a receipt and he gave us his name on a piece of paper, very odd. Did a bit of research online and a few others had a similar experience so not sure what goes on! We left and didn’t stay the night after this as we were the only ones there and he was with some friends in a truck who were ‘pretty high right now’ according to the man we spoke to…

Everything about this campground was top notch! The privacy was so appreciated after experiencing the crowds at Goulding's. We loved everything about our stay here, from the incredible views and kind people, to the sweet dog that visited us on two of the nights we were there. We spotted some wild horses nearby that wandered along the horizon. On a clear day, you can even see snow-capped mountains in the distance. Thanks for a wonderful experience, Kirby and family!

I'd say they are but there are wild dogs (2) that came around during the night while I was there. Albeit they were just looking for scraps no telling how they would act towards other dogs.
There's no need for a reservation, it's a wide open campground that has many spots available to whoever claims them first. Safe travels.
Campsites are all about the same size. I don't think it be a problem if it stuck outside the boundaries.
30 I believe
I wouldn't worry about making a reservation, there is plenty of room there and it is a bit off the beaten path. Was there last summer and had only 2 other groups of campers.
They're pretty close to each other
It's not possible to reserve, because owner has no internet, computer etc 😀, but don't worry there is enough parking spaces. It's FCFS... Enjoy...
Yeah, I think the grounds may be open year round. I stayed there in February '19, owners came by in the morning. Ask them about firewood.
Its 20 dollars, they come and collect/visit around dusk.
I didn't see either. It's quite a nice place to camp though.
