This chic urban eatery boasts an atmosphere and vibe that can be found in Tokyo but is located in the heart of Downtown Durham. The exposed brick juxtaposed with the industrial kitchen bar creates a nuanced feel unique to M Sushi. A line of sushi chefs hunched over their sushi mats making roll after delicious roll is quite a pre-dinner show. The main feast, however, comes when the sushi rolls are presented. Delivered and expertly explained by our server Emily, each roll was deftly prepared and was the star of its own dish. The M Special is just that - special. It’s flavors are light with pops of saltiness from the fish roe and crunch from the micro greens. The Spider is adeptly named for its bite from the charred jalapeño nestled deep within the rolls. An evening spent dining with good friends at M Sushi is truly what living in Durham is about. Pro tip: Pair two or three of the specialty rolls with traditional rolls and you have yourself a menu tasting.

I tried both the vegan bento box and the vegan role they had on the menu. Both were excellent and the highlight was the ratatouille role. The space is wonderful and it’s a great date spot. Ladies, just be aware there’s a cobblestone walk way leading up to the entrance which has deep crevices those heels will get stuck. Take it slow and don’t rope and ankle :)

Finally took the drive to try out M Sushi. They definitely didn’t disappoint. The rolls were so fresh and truly delicious. So many flavors in each piece. The green salad with the dressing was equally delicious. So glad we made a reservation even for lunch (which we normally don’t). we arrived just as they opened the doors and there must’ve been at least 20+ people lined up to be seated. Staff was attentive & helpful.

Very homely ambiance where we were seated at the bar. The food and service were both delicious and worth the price tag; excellent celebratory spot when you're willing to shell out a couple Benjamin's. The fish was incredible! So fresh tasting and beautifully paired throughout each dish.
