My water meter ,which was only about 3 years old ,was leaking due to the flushing of the hydrants and they came out and replaced it in a flash.

The MPWC will be conducting Fall Flushing Sunday through Thursday nights from 7pm to 11pm, October 17th through October 28th.

There is no "threat" to purchase anything. The MPWC has a promotional agreement with HomeServe whereby HomeServe offers a discount to MPWC customers for service line insurance. This type of insurance is usually not covered by home owners insurance and the MPWC was looking for a way to help spread that knowledge to the service area. Service insurance is completely optional and its purchase is entirely up to the home owner. I hope this helps!
