I was so happy when this place opened but they have gone downhill over time. I recommend Urgent Care of Wilmington Island over Southern Urgent Care. It is much cleaner and more looks more upscale. They file insurance, don't require an up front payment, have a lower fee for a basic visit, and are open an hour later (the last time I checked). I've been to this location several times where they were somewhat rude about taking the up front payment. And the out of pocket fee for Gulfstream employees who haven't met their deductible is high. The medical care has always been great with the exception of one of the founding owners. He has given me/my family incorrect medical information twice. (He told my children blood looks blue in veins because it isn't oxygenated and it turns red when you bleed when it hits air. It's been years since this happened.) The other time was something not as easy to explain but was inaccurate all the same. He misdiagnosed my issue, but did some blood tests based on the wrong diagnosis which led to the right one. So, I've always ended up with the medical care needed. Meredith has been their best provider. She remembers her patients. I saw her outside of the office and she remembered why I had been to her and asked how I was. She has done the same for my mom. What I haven't liked is the front desk personnel since Martha stopped sometimes working in that position. With the exception of two or three different visits out of maybe 20-25, the people at the front desk have not been friendly. There was one employee who worked there for a long time who needed to not be the face of their business. I'm not sure if she is still there. Perhaps with the addition of the new competition at Urgent Care of Wilmington Island, they'll address some of these concerns. Both of these options are better than the Urgent Care 24/7 of Whitemarsh Island. They do not always have a provider on site.

I had my sister seen there the care was great until we asked for her covid results to be emailed and it never was..I continuously called the clinic sat for 1.5 hr straight with no answer just the call being ended. Now her job is at jeopardy because of a simple test result needed and couldn't get..the office is closed Sundays and Monday is a holiday. Thank you so much for the esteem cooperation in something so simple...update 5 months later still no return call or results mailed out nor emailed...thank you very much you cost her, her job and I paid fully out of pocket for her visit. I feel completely robbed by your office!

We were here on vacation when my 9 year old became extremely ill. We were panicked and took her to southern urgent care on whitemarsh island. Cannot say enough great things about the staff here...the front desk clerk, doctor and medical assistants all took great care of her. They even called to check up on her. 100% recomme d!

Unfortunately we do not. Our Whitmarsh Island office does offer Primary Care visits, but those will not be covered the same because we are an Urgent Care. Call us for me details! Thanks for your question!
You may make an appointment if that is convenient for you, but there are no appointments necessary for urgent care! If you'd like to have a primary care appointment, those are by appointments only.
