I think the first time I visited here was as a kid for summer camp back in 1999 or 2000. As an adult it's interesting to come back because my now husband's family has a tent/cabin on site. So beautiful and a great place to be with your family.

It isn't a campground where you go and camp. It is an old Methodist camp meeting site. People own little cabins there, referred to as tents.

I'm in Northern Illinois looking to move into that area. I have 2 brothers living in Waxhaw who both have their own plumbing businesses. My question is about the little cabins, are there any available? If so, are they short term/long term?

This is a historic Christian retreat (UMC Based, in this case). All of the tents (the small cabins) are privately owned by the families who are a part of the Camp Meeting. You can Google "Camp Meeting" to get more general information on what this is. 🙂

What is this place??? It looks perfect for soooo many people I know who are struggling to have a place they can afford... like me right now, I'm so screwed! What is this????

It's affiliated with the United Methodist Church and a place where the families who own the "tents" (small and sometimes one-room houses built there) go for a week in the summer to gather with friends and family as well as attend daily church services held in the Arbor, which is a covered open air chapel in the center. Look up "Camp Meeting" for historical reference. 🙂
