Did a moonlight paddle event with Rangers Tom and Josh. They were great hosts! Lake access is easy, and there's plenty of wildlife to watch for. If paddling by day, watch for fishing lines near the shore and footbridge. Shelter 1 gives you a great, private view of the lake. Have enjoyed all my visits to this park. One of my favorites!

Small but very nice.

We enjoyed the "Twilight Paddle" with the rangers. It was quiet, calm, and informational. We saw fish, herons, the spillway, the bridge and even a few stars despite it being a cloudy night. Nice group of people. Beginner friendly - a perfect way to tour the park by water and see if kayaking or canoeing is something you enjoy. Very cool to be on the lake in such darkness. We didn't think to bring a headlamp but many people did. Kayak rentals ✅ Restrooms ✅ Easy access kayak ramp ✅

Nice park with a beautiful lake. Great for walking and kayaking. Lots of picnic tables and shelters. Campground looked to be pretty packed in so I don't know that I'd camp there if privacy is what you're after, but facilities all in great shape.

I saw them there.. but didn't see anything about pricing
Yes there are restrooms near the playground area and in the campground.
I'm not exactly sure about that. However, I did see a YouTube video of a young boy Magnet Fishing at the park. Just call and make sure to get permission first before doing so. Great question :)
Oh yeah. Several available in camping area and more on main park side.
During park hours listed on website if your not camping. 9a-9p

Correction 25 sites.
Union County Waxhaw has a county park. York county has a park called Ebenezer.
Only 1 site is full hookup besides the Camp Host site. #23 and it is right beside the bath house. #12 is a great site with beautiful water views. #11 is a good site as well. #4 is a pull through and has lots of shade. A short walk across to the bath house. Bathhouse is very clean.
Yes they do. They also have canoes, kayaks, and peddle boats
I don't see a reason why you could not. You are able to rent kayaks, paddle boats and small motor boats from the rangers. From the shore, you have access to about 2 sides of the lake. The long shore from dock to small dam. And after you cross the dock you can go about 1/2 mile more. The main stretch from the beginning of the dock to the small dam is Mayne a mile. There are spots to cast from for magnet fishing along the path but there is some thick brush in some spots. Off the dock the water is only about 4 to 6 feet deep. Because it is an occupied park by park rangers I don't know what kind of things you will find meaning your probably not going to find a body or gun out at the park. It is very family oriented and nice. Hope that helped.
No
Yes. Be sure to abide by state dnr rules and regulations. I haven't had any luck fishing from the dock. Good luck!
Yes you need to reserve in advance. It is unlikely you will find an open site on the same day. Always full because it's a great little state park.
Check-in at all state parks is 2pm Check-out is noon This give the campground hosts ample time to have the sites ready for the next campers
According to the web site the lake in the park built by the CCC was never designed to accommodate swimming.
It's $2 per person, NOT per car. They don't have a debit machine, so you need cash. Used to just be a box and envelopes. But last time we went, they actually had someone out there collecting money. However, they seemed chill when we were struggling to get exact change saying it was fine.
Around 3 hours from the south carolina coastline, also no swimming is allowed in the lake
Around $20 a night. Some sites are a little more expensive. We go for 3 days at a time and has never been over $23. a night before discounts if you have any.
They do have sites big enough for a 32ft camper but they only have one with sewer hook up and the other one is for camp host only
In order to see pictures of Chester State Park you need to call the park customer service and they will be glad to help you find what you want or need as giving information about it
