DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE PLEASE! We placed our daughter here and within one month I walked in and pulled her. She had a black eye, claro marks on her face, her glasses were broken, and her tooth broke. She was 13 and she is now 19, she's still in therapy from this trama.
In My Solitude
(My initial review was 2 stars but has since changed , keep reading for full initial review, and updated review at the end): Due to poor communication and a lack of customer service, my child didn’t get a chance to even receive the acute services he needed. Making the decision to send him here was hard enough, then to have him there and not follow through was very devastating. His stay was cut short and abruptly with no heads up, due to him not eating enough while there. One of the BCBAs, “Amy Tanner” made the call to cut his services short without prior notification and a lack of efforts to find foods he’d eat or reach out to me about the matter. There were some outstanding professionals there however, Mr. Reggie Spencer who is the residential manager was extremely concerned, caring and empathetic to my concerns when he was made aware of them. Mr Spencer is a solid and amazing human being who is definitely in the right field. And he’s the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one. There was also a nurse named Jeanette who was very dedicated while caring for my son at night and trying to keep me informed when she was on duty with him. She even tried to offer more foods to my son and even had him eating healthy foods like yogurt that he never would eat at home. This is why I don’t understand him being discharged for “not eating”. So you can understand why my frustration in this matter is elevated. Laurel Heights CEO Cory Jackson was also prompt in responding to my complaints after we left the hospital for good. Not many places will service ASD kids in this state who are in crisis situations so we must depend on Laurel Heights. Laurel Heights l, please do better with communication, and if anything else, those with bigger titles should reach out to nurses and caregivers who are hands on and know what the children patients need before making unnecessary drastic decisions. UPDATE: After my last review, my son ended up needing to go back to Laurel Heights 3 weeks after this (as he was still very unstable since the first visit was cut short) . He is not back home after a 10 day stay and is so much better this time. I was able to get the necessary parent training prior to his discharge and we worked with a different BCBA, Carolyn Tully who is nothing short of amazing. She even worked with the BCBA in my sons school district before he was discharged to ensure we have the necessary tools to assist him as best we can at home and information on resources . Mr Reggie Spencer, the residential manager was also once again a shining light to guide us, and ensured that my son’s second stay was a complete difference from the last. More efforts were made on behalf of the doctor as well who remembered my son. He ate better this time as well. Based off the most recent visit I’d recommend this hospital for families of autistic children who may need temporary stabilization for extreme behaviors. When done correctly, and when parents are in full communication in regards to the communication with concerned parents on their child’s care. I’m confident that if my son ever needs to go to this hospital again, they will send him home better than when he arrived. There are some wonderful people working there that are passionate about helping your children. I have mentioned them, and I appreciate them.

My child came back with an extreme case of lice. I called to let them know and they seemed to not be worried about it. My child reported bugs inside the rooms and the beds there were half broken she said. My child passed out and there was no phone call made either and I was not aware of until she returned.

My son , N. Azlaki was in treatment for 3 months. Being in mental health facility is not fun for parents or kids , lots of emotions , but is necessarily. I was talking to my son 3-4 times a week. when he back home , i questioned him so carefully if someone abused or disrespectful to him and his answer was No every time. We want to appreciate all help he got there , especially he has some connection to three nurses Mr.Ken Elstone , Ms.Teniaja and nurse Chrissy . They are so especial to him.He is planning to start to work there after his graduation and be a nice nurse like them. Thanks for all your help.
