It is an unfortunate review that I rate 1 star. I started as an MHA in Sept. 2020 and I admit that the facility had challenges it was working on. The reason for my low rating is due to what I have observed over time being here which is as follows: Nepotism, Discrimination, Hegemony, Coercion, False promotions, Racism, Verbal intimidation, Lack of Quality Care for youth, Overworked staff, Under appreciated staff, High turn over rate, False documentations, Under trained staff, Lack of staff for ratio safety, etc. The list is long but those are just a few challenges that have yet to be addressed. When employees report matters to appropriate departments the concerns are never taken serious. Employee concerns are deem as unsubstantiated after reports are made. These challenges have been present before I started working here and since they are still very much present, the Corporate Office of Oak Plains Academy which is Universal Health Services should be held responsible for the known continuous unethical work environment. The facility has endured multiple investigations from CPS, DCS, CMS and other outside agencies that have allowed the continuous operation of the facility. Youth have expressed many times they feel unsafe and many more try to run away for this reason alone. When parents google Oak Plains Academy the pictures they see are reassuring that it looks like a safe place, but those pictures are completely false and fake. The dormitories units do not look like the pictures on the website at all. Parent should ask for a tour of the campus as well as touring the sleeping arrangements and the school. If they argue that would be a safety concern to tour parents or a HIPPA violation (which its not) - count this as a red flag. Overall the culture is abusive for staff and youth. My Educational Background: Health and Human Services, and Health Science. If this post is responded to by Oak Plains Academy(owner UHS) please understand this is not a matter of discussing known issues/challenges but however a matter of action to ensure those challenges are addressed in a timely manner without tabling these challenges for a tomorrow that never comes. Unapologetic.

I used to go to oak plains. They helped a lot, but they need more staff they are way too under staff. Some of the staff who work there need to be fired or retrained. I learned a lot from Oak Plains but y'all need help and help fast

FYI to parents- this place is on the HEAL watchlist…not a good thing. Please do your research before attending.

This is a terrible place. They do not take care of the children there. The food is unhealthy and is so terrible that the kids have significant wt loss because they will not eat it. The do not follow dietary guidelines for children. They need to be shut down. The place is run down. The kitchen storage room has mice droppings everywhere and they will not do anything to fix all the problems there. Some how they always pass the with the health department but have mice droppings in the dry storage. It was sickening seeing such horrible conditions with no consequences for the administration running this facility. Do not send children to this place. It only makes them worse Some floor staff treat the children horrible. There is some there that care but most don't.

If they are put on your approved list then yes
Central
They can watch movies but not like flipping through tv shows..it's more a group decision. They often do things for the children have holidays dinners, invite family if they can make it. HOPE THIS HELPS
Sometimes they have social where they can interact with staff present, and talk.. bc knowing how to interact with the opposite sex is important in a teenager's life .but they are never alone.
He is sending me mail so I am on his contact list. And ok
Yes they can send letters but the therapist would have to aprove it
You can send letters to the Students at opa in the mail it will be given to there therapist to be approved and eventually will be given to the student
I've found that going to exit 4 there's plenty of hotels. I particularly like Quality Inn. Very clean and great breakfast buffet complimentary.
