I took the French I TPRS program over the summer and it was amazing! Dr Shelley Thomas really showed us how we could use these skills in a classroom setting to really connect with students and help them learn at an accelerated pace! I love this program and plan to take several other languages and once I start teaching to use it as much as possible in the classroom setting!!

Even a person over seventy can learn to speak Spanish well enough to enjoy travel interacting with Spaniards and to pass a proficiency test for course credit at Middle Tennessee State University, thanks to CALA instruction. (At least, that was true for me! Before enrolling, I couldn't even count to ten in Spanish and feared that I wouldn't make it in the course.) I appreciate the unique way in which these courses are taught, and the ability of the instructor to make sure that all members of the class are learning quickly while engaged in a variety of fun activities.

Absolutely the best way to learn a foreign language. The classes are interactive and fun. The instructors are knowledgeable and assist the students in learning the material. I have taken the French and the Spanish and enthusiastically endorse both. I will take more!

I have taken one of the yoga classes and am learning a second yoga practice in stages. The instruction is clear and the instructor is very helpful and caring. I like that I can go learn the practice, then do it on my own, and that if I have questions or think I might need further help, I can go to the review sessions. A great way/place to learn yoga!

Stephanie Gassman | Oct 21, 2020
Shelley Thomas | Oct 21, 2020

No, Stephanie, I'm sorry we don't.

Are your classes free or do I need to pay tuition?

Sherri Maxwell | Oct 21, 2020
Shelley Thomas | Oct 21, 2020

Hi Sherri, Happy to help. There is a fee for each class. Telecourses are $185 and I believe the in-person classes for foreign languages are $250, but they are only in the summer. We do have American Sign Language all year round. See our CALA documentary for an understanding of what to expect here: https://www.mtsu.edu/cala/index.php
