James and his crew put new siding on my house a few years ago. He was professional and got it done in a timely fashion. More recently, James went out of his way to assist in some additional repairs. It is so challenging to get calls back from contractors these days and it was so great that James not only got back to me quickly but was able to provide excellent customer service throughout the quote process. This company is reliable and does good work and I would give them my highest recommendation.

James is so helpful and the contractors are lovely! I wish there was more prompt communication with timelines, but Overall, I highly recommend this place! I called a couple of window folks around me, and James was able to provide me with good quality windows that won’t make me have to sell a kidney! I got 2 windows and a sliding door. Because my house is 1975, the windows and sliding door were original 1975 single pane glass AND they were weirdly sized!!! The windows came out lovely. It was so easy to work with James!

Kraftwork did a fantastic job replacing our office roof and several windows that were in really bad shape. The crew was very clean, efficient and friendly. I plan to use Kraftwork for my windows at my home this fall.

This was our second time using Kraftwork Design… they are THAT great! I recommend them to anyone that mentions they need new windows or siding! James and his team are incredibly knowledgeable, accommodating and professional. We first used this company 7 years ago for a full home window replacement and we were so pleased that we knew exactly who to call this go around! We still got another quote from a different company just to be smart buyers, but price and quality doesn’t compare to Kraftwork Design. We had Simenon windows installed in our last home, Anlin in our new home - both are fantastic products with great features. The team works quickly and efficiently - they even pointed out a few issues with my siding and gutters that I would have never noticed. Their service went above and beyond! Thanks again to James, Greg and the team! You guys are amazing!

Bay windows also have a picture window in the middle and two windows on either side. Bow windows use the same type of window in every section and the entire structure is rounded. Bay windows are characterized by their hard-angled sections.

What is a bow window?

Kraftwork Design | Aug 22, 2022

Actually, the word actually derives its name from an old French word, ‘baee’ which means opening or hole. Bay windows can be a combination of three to five windows that angle beyond the exterior wall. They are either square, hexagonal, or octagonal. This creates a compartment because they extend beyond the exterior wall.

Are bay and bow windows worth the extra value?

Why are bay windows so costly?

Bay window is a window that forms the exterior expression of an area within a structure. A bay in this context refers to an interior recess created by the projection of a wall. A bay window allows more light to pass through than a window that is flush with the wall.

How do you install replacement windows?

Kraftwork Design | Aug 22, 2022
Kraftwork Design | Aug 22, 2022

First, the glass and other working parts of the windows must be removed. The wooden frame holding the window will be left in place. Minor repairs can be made to strengthen the frame in preparation for replacement. The replacement window is installed by nailing it into place. To ensure weather resistance, the exterior casing will be formed and placed.

What is the process of installing replacement windows?

The glass and working components of the current windows are first removed. The wooden window frame that holds the window will remain in place, and if necessary, minor repairs may be made to strengthen this frame in preparation for the replacement. Our replacement window is nailed into place, and the exterior casing is formed and installed to ensure a seal that provides weather resistance.

What should I do to prepare my house for the replacement windows?

Kraftwork Design | Aug 22, 2022
Kraftwork Design | Aug 22, 2022

It is very helpful to us if you take down curtains, blinds, or any other previous window treatments. If you have security sensors, they should be removed, and powered down by the security company. Try to provide the installation expert with a clear pathway to the window, and remove any wall décor that is close to the window’s position during installation.

Are windows usually installed from the inside, or outside?

Kraftwork Design | Aug 22, 2022
Kraftwork Design | Aug 22, 2022

The majority of the windows we replace are installed from the outside. On installation day, your expert will do their best to look at the unique situation, and explain the process that will best suit the style of your home.
