I am a non-combat veteran with service related disabilities who was matched with my battle buddy Cypress last week. Throughout the application process Freedom Service Dogs has been open and transparent. I started class last week with five diverse vets with similar life challenges, and while it is demanding, class has been fun. Brenna and Jenny picked up that I am a visual learner and adjusted the content for me, which I appreciate. When I'm having a rough patch there is plenty of support to help me process my emotions and move back into a learning zone. I can recommend Freedom Service Dogs if you are vet and need help managing your symptoms with 100% assurance. Please do not hesitate to seek relief by use of a fur buddy! I can't wait to see what my life leads to now.

I am mentally and have physical disabilities. I have fallen on many occasions. Was wondering if there is such thing as a program for donating a service/support dog for someone in need?

Hi Suzanne. If they cannot help you directly, they should be able to connect you to resources that can. I would definitely give them a call.

Thank you for your question. We train dogs for people with physical disabilities, veterans with PTSD or traumatic brain injury, and children (5 years and older) and adults on the autism spectrum or with other neurocognitive disabilities. We do not provide psychiatric service dogs for civilians.

Wanted to make a donation in honor of one of our dear friends, an animal lover. How do I go about doing this?

Call their main line and you will be able to make a donation over the phone

I've been trying to find a medium sized dog to keep me company and go on walks. I wear oxygen 24/7 and sometimes i have a hard time when I'm alone and i feel that a service dog would be a good fit. I have a lung disease that is very challenging.

This is one area that Freedom Service Dogs really understands. One of their main groups of clients are Veterans with the same or similar issues you may be dealing with. I am not sure of the steps you need to do to be helped by them, however, I have toured the facility and met some of the staff and I can tell you they are top notch all the way around! I would give them a call and see if you could go down and meet with someone...or they could start you in the right direction. By the way, thank you for your service, it IS appreciated!

Do you train current family pets (1.5 year old) to be service dogs for their family?

Sarah Beebe | Oct 22, 2018
randy cupps | Oct 22, 2018

The organization takes rescue dogs and trains them as service dogs and gives them away to people who need them.
