Go to the Union website and read the eligibility criteria for membership

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is seperate from the union. If you want to know if you're eligible to join the union you'll need to contact the membership department during normal business hours. The are certain qualifications needed, including having worked in a speaking role under a SAG-AFTRA contract. The membership department can assist you in evaluating if you have qualified.

Join the Sag Foundation. They infrequently have agents. The SAG Open Door will give you - maybe - one chance (or is it 2?). Registration last days are around: now!

In New York at least, there must be 25 SAG BG.on a set. doesn't matter if there's 26 background or a thousand the contract only requires that there be 25 sag members. for so called New Media like Netflix Hulu Amazon and the like the percentage is actually half that so you only need 12 or 13 sag on a set to comply with the contract.

Its best to call ahead. Be sure to bring receipts to prove your eligibility. And ask about forms of payment. You will need to pay the iniation fee plus 6 months' base dues. They'll explain on the phone.
