Should rename themselves "CAT" - they do not take dogs; cats only

Terrific animal shelter. If you’re looking to adopt a cat in the Indianapolis area, this is one of the best places to go to

After about only two days of bringing Ritchie home from the humane society, I can say he is the most loving and goofiest cat i have ever met. Everyone here treated us with the most respect and care. it’s obvious they truly care about their cats, and are very knowledgeable as well. the second we walked in the door we fell in love with Ritchie, and began the adoption process, which took about a week. If you are looking for a cat, I’d definitely recommend making an appointment to stop in and see their cats:)

I see some wonderful reviews here which is why we really were looking forward to trying to adopt. We tried to call for twenty minutes with no answer so we stopped by to set up an appointment as we were just around the corner. The person we spoke to was completely unprofessional and rude. We will never be back. We went up to Hamilton County and had the most amazing experience. Hopefully this will not be a normal experience for people.

HCHS isn't currently able to house dogs. There are some great dog rescues in the county though.
There are no vets on staff; however, several times a year HCHS sponsors low-cost vaccination clinics which you could attend to get the dogs their shots.
We can only accept new towels and blankets. We will accept laundry detergent, but prefer unscented so the cats aren't irritated by scents. Thank you for thinking of us!
Call the shelter on Saturday. I do believe there's a waiting list and a volunteer can fill out a form. Our intake person knows best if or when there's cage space.
Yes, we only have cats at our shelter due to the fact that we are an all volunteer run shelter.
PAWScan help u with that
Phyllis Phillips, I'm a board member/ volunteer at Hancock County Humane Society. I'm sorry but right now we aren't taking in ant cats. We have been closed for over month while treating our cats for ringworm and will most likely re-open sometime in late January. There's an excellent website called Pet Finder.com where you can fund a listing of many animal shelters. PAWS of Hancock County is open on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
This place is an Cat Shelter.
Not at this time, we just adopted out an orange kitten this past weekend. We keep our website updated with photos of all available cats and kittens for adoption. Keep checking our website.
Check their hours. I would call first. You're supposed to take the cat to the further back door, to be sure the cat is healthy enough to be with the others.
Yes
I would contact sheriff's dept they will get help
They only have cats, as the size of the shelter isn't big enough to accommodate dogs. They do work closely with Hancock County Animal Control, and they sometimes have dogs up for adoption.
