Delighted with my new headshots from Hector Pachas Photography! I've always felt there was something unique about the headshots on Hector's website. They just seem to draw you in and make you want to connect with the person. So, I asked Hector to do the same for me. During our photo shoot, I discovered that it's not just his collaborative approach and skill as a photographer. It's his ability to help you find your natural look and smile so he can capture your personality in a professional image. Hector is the first photographer to do that successfully with me and I wholeheartedly recommend him.

Questions & Answers

Do you retouch the photos?

Yes, all final images you get from me will be professionally retouched. You don't want heavy retouching in your headshots or they'll look fake The idea is for you to look natural so don't worry you're in good hands. The idea is for you to look like you. I basically take care of blemishes. Skin discoloration and skin tone is evened out for a really high quality, flattering, and natural look. Color correction, hair fly aways are tidied up, lint etc. removed from clothing. This minimal, but highly skilled process is really important to give your headshot a high end, polished overall feel.

What do you recommend for Hair & Makeup

Guys, you can skip the makeup stay hydrated and you'll see how great your skin looks. Ladies, makeup for headshots is best kept simple. Unless you have a specific personal style you wear (always go with what you like, this is just my suggestion), a natural look always looks best. Makeup can easily look heavy in headshots. To start with the eyes, we want to keep it light. No hard lines over the eyes (this will diminish your eyes), light mascara if you wear it, say NO to fake lashes that are too big, they block light and your eyes won’t pop like we want them to. If you wear eye shadow, try to keep it a neutral color and importantly, try to blend it like your life depends on it! If possible, use liquid foundation. Use one without SPF/SunScreen, as sunscreen will make your face look washed out on camera.

What should I wear to my Headshot session?

Avoid busy patterns, textures, or distracting necklines. For Business or Corporate Headshot sessions, wear your favorite suit or business dress, your crispest shirt, your go-to tie. Have all clothes cleaned and pressed before the shoot if possible. If we're going for smart casual, wear your absolute favorite clothes. No matter what type of shoot we're doing, bring a selection of clothes to the shoot. There's no time limit on our session, we shoot until we get what we need out of the shoot, so make the most of that and bring all of your favorite outfits! In short, bring clothes that make you feel great. I want you to look and feel your very best and you'll be amazed the difference it makes in how people feel in front of the camera when they're wearing their favorite outfit.

Do I need to leave a deposit to book a session?

Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021
Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021

I require non-refundable full payment upon booking the session. Shooting dates fill up fast so in order for me to keep an accurate studio calendar, the deposit is taken and applies to the final cost of your photoshoot. At the same time, life happens and things come up that mean you can't make it. If let me know within 48hrs of your session and we can reschedule within 30 days, I'll happily apply the payment to your next shoot. No shows on the day forfeit the payment.

Do I need to book an appointment?

Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021
Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021

Yes. All headshot sessions for either individuals or groups are by appointment only. In order to get the very best out of my time and yours, pre-planning goes into every shoot. In Studio or at your location, I want you to get the very best value in quality and service.

Do you offer on-location shoots?

Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021
Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021

Yes, I do. Some business and corporate headshot clients prefer me to come to them for convenience, some prefer to shoot in my home studio in Norwalk. Contact me for more details.

What can I expect my finished headshot to look like?

Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021
Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021

My style is very consistent. I shoot on a solid background, usually gray and white, because as well as looking modern and clean, this helps make your eyes pop and skin tones look great. To accentuate your features, I set up a proven method of lighting for each client. Ahead of your session I send you coaching and instructions so you're prepared and hit the ground running. Your headshot will show you both confident and approachable for maximum positive effect. My aim is to make you look and feel like you at your very best.

I don't look good in front of the camera, what do you do?

Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021
Hector Pachas Photography | Oct 21, 2021

Yeaaaah no, let's start the conversation some other way. A lot of people say they have never seen a good photograph taken of themselves and that's because they've either just taken the budget photo or just gotten a DMV photo. It's my job to change all that past experience go away. Being photogenic is just doing the right thing for the camera, that's why I'll coach you to get you to that look. Your session is to get you with a headshot that shows the approachable and confident person you are. Not many people know how to be in front of front of a camera - heck I used to be one of those. The magic happens with a little time, some coaching, lights, camera, and action to get that look for your headshot.
