Typical Hofbräuhaus. Owner comes from Mainz. staff very friendly. Schnitzel was very good but unfortunately the side dishes were not. Reservation recommended.

Bit of a rowdy/bro crowd, but if you can stomach that, the beer is fantastic, the atmosphere is festive, and the food has both improved in quality over the years and tastes delicious! Definitely drop the extra cash for the pork knuckle or braised shank (pictured).

Most security won't make a fuss about an international ID. The rules can change depending on the state too. Most likely, you got a bouncer who was inexperienced or afraid of getting in trouble for some reason. I got turned away from a bar in Philadelphia for having an out of state ID... *shrug* who knows. Bad luck. Hope you have a good time in the states!
