I scheduled an appointment which was originally scheduled out to January and then rescheduled for October after "telemed appointments" were opened up. None of which I had any problems with. The day of my visit the wait was nearly 45 minutes. Due to this I did not have time to choose eyewear. As a former employee of this establishment I have some first hand knowledge of the vision plans and the options available to patients. Let me be clear I am in no way disgruntled and left the office on good terms for a better opportunity. My issue is the fact that I know the ins and outs of my vision plan having been employed by NCO and when I went to order my eyewear today I was told that those with my vision plan were not permitted to choose from the offerings of the vision plan and were required to order the most expensive options the vision plan offers. So this business is telling patients that they are required to pay for advanced options when there are other options available to them under their vision plan. Because of my knowledge of the plan I was aware of the other options and when asked was given the above explanation. For someone that does not have the information that I have they are just told that they must pay for the options that this Dr. has predetermined. In my opinion this is deceptive and unethical and should be called out. Hence this review.

Went to have my guarantee on my lens to be told they no longer have a lab and I was immediately told I have an attitude from the over worked employee of George she then said if I wanted them repaired I would have to send my entire set away to their lab for three weeks like I have an extra 1000 dollar pair of glasses hanging around my house such a wreck of a place George is never there all thesenew fees better find a new place. Again the store answered below and blamed the client for my insensitivity and slander your business really you guys do a pretty good job of blaming everyone but yourself and this is why you won't be here 1 year from now

Very disappointed. I was given the wrong information and on the day of the appointment I was told that I had to pay a $40 fee. After explaining what I was told and it was confirmed that an employee gave me the wrong information they would not waive the $40 fee. Can’t trust what they say so I am moving on to another office.

Called to schedule an eye exam after using my insurance provider locator. Was told they won't accept my insurance for new patients, only existing. Kind of a joke you won't take me just because of my insurance, even though it's listed.

Questions & Answers

Do you accept medicaid

North Country Optical | Oct 21, 2020

Hello. We don't carry the so-called medicaid frames (or glasses) so it would be best for those on medicaid to go to offices that do. Therefore, we don't accept Medicaid for routine eye exams.

Hi. We are not familiar with arena. We have not been able to offer same day glasses since July 2022 due to lack of available skilled help but we hope that we can resume this service in the future.

What age do they start doing eye exams?

Hello. We can start doing eye exams for children around the age of 3. Exams for young children can be more objective and usually require dilation of pupils for greater accuracy and thoroughness.

Do you carry 41 tint prescription glasses for patients with migraines?

North Country Optical | Oct 22, 2019

Hello Maria. Our office is closed today (Monday). My opticians would be able to answer the question starting tomorrow at 8:30 am. We are able to tint prescription lenses, sometimes in house, but they can tell you about "41 tint". Would you be able to call the office between 8:30 and 5 pm weekdays (Tuesday-Friday)? Number is 518-563-7400. Thanks for reaching out. George Mitsoglou, OD
