Early in the 20th century these iconic clocks were used to promote local businesses, this one was on the north side of Jamaica ave at 161-11. In 1981 it was nominated for historic landmark status which it attained in 1985. The Jamaica Chamber of commerce refurbished it and provided a plaque, in 1989 it was installed on the south side at 92-00a Union Hall St. (Meeting House lane in colonial times) where the 1656 -1813 Old Stone Church and British revolutionary war jail once stood. One of 2 still standing in Queens, it marks Jamaica Center.

Yes, the church stones were used to build the 2nd church on 162nd
The clock originally stood in front of Busch Jewelers and later the location became a restaurant, Tads Steaks. Due to disrepair it was stored and in 1970 the push to landmark it began. The funding to do so was approved in 1979 and by 1983 the clock was restored, but placed across the avenue on the corner of Union hall St in 1985, at the original center of Jamaica town. Landmark status was attained in 1989. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidewalk_Clock_on_Jamaica_Avenue
