I called to report a fraudulent charge just now, and the police wouldn't answer after I had been transfered for a while, when they did they immediately hung up. ( You could tell someone had answered the phone because you could hear background noises) they 100% hung up on me. Is this the standards for our first responders now? Ridiculous

It was the worst experience at this precinct No one is there for help to make a report

My dealings with the detectives at this precinct left me with the impression that they could care less about victims of crime. My son was struck and severely injured by a hit and run driver. I was asked by the detective to deliver his clothing as evidence to the 79th Precinct. My son was in intensive care for over 70 days and was near death as opined by his attending physicians on several occasions. When I left my son's bedside to deliver the evidence to the police detective I was greeted by a handful of detectives, but not the one assigned to my son's case. One of the detectives said to me: "You know the only thing the hit and run driver did wrong was leaving the scene." I wondered how he could know that the driver was not drunk, or if there was a warrant out on the driver. The implication was that the collision was my son's fault. They had a videotape of the accident and eye witnesses. Yet they never found the person who caused so much damage to my son and callously let him lie in the street to die, like so much rubbage. If I had not been so distraught over my son's condition at the time I would have reported this conduct to some higher up, but I had more important things to deal with as my son fought for his life in the hospital. I regret now that I did nothing to report this incident and the cowards who treated me and my family like we were wasting their time. We left Brooklyn thinking that human life was pretty cheap there.

Your ID Go to the pct if they can't give it to you right there, they'll give you a letter to take to 1 police plaza.
I feel now we the Community are at a loss for receiving protection in our area. It seems that the local communities hands ate tied now with all that is going on, community policing is very disheartening. Some neighbors now feel disheartened because they dont know who to turn to know. When we call the 79th Precinct for theft issues on our block, we are being told that, there are new changes going on in the Police Dept, and that there are certain things they are not dealing with. Quality of life dont seem to be on the agenda anymore, so now our elders feel at a loss for safety and protection.
