Excellent SAT prep class! My son's score went up by 150 points after attending Jake's classes - up 40 points in math (which has always been his most dreadful subject) and up 110 points in english. Jake is extremely prepared and puts so much hard work into teaching his classes. He communicates with parents and you can tell how invested and caring he is for his students.

So impressed with Jake's customer service. My son took his class last year and did very well on his SAT. He is super friendly and very thorough. Jake continues to be a great resource and always responds quickly and is willing to help. I highly recommend his services.

Since the primary challenges of the SAT and ACT are very different from what students are used to on school exams, there isn't a certain time in the year to take the SAT/ACT that makes more sense than any other time. In other words, since the exams are not based on high school curriculum, a dedicated preparation class is what will make students ready to take the SAT/ACT. The logistics of life often dictate when we can fit in this preparation. If a student plays a winter sport, then they would look to take a class during some other time of the year. If a student participates in sports all year round, then perhaps the summer is when they might have more time/energy to put into their SAT/ACT preparations. You can read this blogpost for more detail: https://jakesatprep.com/when-should-juniors-take-the-sat/ Please feel free to give us a ring and we'll be happy to figure out a program that would make the most sense based on your teenager's schedule.
Absolutely! The ACT and SAT (which are both accepted at all schools) test very similar skill sets in slightly different ways: the SAT is a trickier exam and while the ACT is a bit more straightforward, it is much more time intensive than the SAT. Many students perform significantly better on one of the two exams, but it’s hard to know which exam is going to be your ultimate ticket to college. Even taking a diagnostic test of each exam is not conclusive as it’s hard to know which exam you have more potential with given the proper instruction. Regardless of whether or not a student learns from us or from someone else, or takes both our SAT and ACT programs or just one, I would always recommend (barring any extenuating circumstance) that a student at least try both exams.
Classes meet for 2 hours each week. Attending each class is crucial. When developing new skills, whether they are sports, musical, or SAT skills, consistency is vital. Additionally, specific lessons are taught each week, all of which are key to test day success.
