This range is no longer staffed. Both the 50, and 100 yard ranges are available for use during business hours. Over half the target stands are missing. No supplies to rebuild the target stands any longer. Come prepared.

Great day at the range sighting in my 30-06. Larry (RSO) was very knowledgeable and clear about expectations and rules. Everyone followed the rules today and everyone was in a great mood. No sign of rudeness like I’ve read about in other reviews. Highly recommend!

This is an awesome place if you have guns that are too big for other ranges in Atlanta or around middle Georgia! There is a woman that works here, that me and my wife met when we went to practice with our M14, she was very nice and very direct and very safety conscious! She was also very knowledgeable about the range, what it was, and even about the weapon that we brought. :)

The Range Officer was AWESOME! He showed me how to bore sight and zero my new rifle and scope. Couldn’t have done it without him. The Range is conducted with Safety as top priority and kept organized and clean. Will go back time and time again.

His name is Larry. He complains about about everything and likes to yell. I think it is time for him to hang it up and retire.
Is this place usually crowded.and can we shoot drakos and ar pistols from the shoulder here
It's free if you have a GA state fishing license. If you don't have your license you can go to your local fish and tackle store and get one or purchase online and print it out. Cost is $15 - 18 just for fishing on and more for hunting. I do recommend shooting there the staff is friendly but stern about range & gun safety but you will a great time. Its laid back and nobody to bother you.
Yes
That's not their job. It's not illegal anyway.
It's free with a hunting license.
Yes
Yes
Land pass no longer works
I don't think they'll do it.
what that guy said plus earplugs, safety glasses, shotgun, slugs.
This is a manned range and the targets stands are provided (unmanned ranges you need to bring your own). They can be placed anywhere in your shooting lane so long as the bullets impact the impact zone on the rear berm. You will need to provide your own paper targets.
Not really bays, but if I remember correctly, there are 10 shooter's stations for the 50 yard range, and 10 stations for the 100 yard range.
Jeff, There are no current limitations in the DNR Shooting Range Safety Regulations regarding muzzle loader projectile calibers. Shooting a .50 caliber projectile is allowed. To view the entire list of current DNR Shooting Range Safety Regulations, please follow this link: https://georgiawildlife.com/firearm-range-rules Thank you!
Paper only, except for special scheduled, supervised events. Then they may allow for the use of ballistic urethane or similar targets. Urethane spinners and the like.. they would have to be situated so any rounds fired will still impact the backstop. They wouldn't want the chance of a ricochet from a target at ground level. Too much liability if the ricochet were to go beyond the backstop. There are open hunting areas and hiking trails beyond the backstop. So even with special events, the shooter is supposed to ensure that the rounds will hit the backstop after passing through the target.
Drew, Per the Georgia DNR Permissable Ammunition regulations: “Rifles using centerfire cartridges .50 caliber or larger are prohibited.” Please follow this link for all regulations: https://georgiawildlife.com/firearm-range-rules
As per the Georgia DNR Firearms Range Safety Regulations: “Sawed-off shotguns, sawed-off rifles, machine guns, dangerous weapons, and silenced weapons as defined in O.C.G.A. § 16-11-121, and any weapon firing more than once with a single trigger pull are prohibited on DNR firing ranges.” Update (April 24th): Because the initial question pertained specifically to automatic fire, only half of that particular regulation was provided. Here is the other half of the regulation regarding permissible firearms: "However, silenced weapons may be used by any person provided that such person has in their possession, at all times, proof of registration of such silencer consistent with the National Firearms Act and such person is in compliance with O.C.G.A. § 16-11-121." GA DNR range regulations can be viewed at each range or the following website: https://georgiawildlife.com/firearm-range-rules
Im not sure..... To prevent from taking a bum trip cause the answer is no.....I would recommend going online and paying the $18 for a fishing license. You can print it out on the spot and not have an issue.
ALWAYS CLOSED MONDAYS. But open Tuesday-Saturday 9am - 7pm. Sunday's 1pm-7pm
If I remember correctly, the GORP is a group pass for the range. Requirements to shoot is to have a lands pass or hunting/fishing license. If under 16, there must be a qualified adult within arms reach school the underage shooter is shooting.
