Lenke - the Donald Trump of spine surgeons. He almost cost me my life. He earned 250k with a massive overcorrective and outdated surgery that almost ended my life, and became nasty and dismissive to the complications he himself created. A sociopath should make a good surgeon as he lacks empathy. It allows him to destroy bodies without concern. The lack of humanity at Ochs Spine Hosp., the ineptitude and cruelty of ICU nursing staff and pain mgmt staff are unparalleled. Lenke left me with multiple vertebral fractures, spinal cord injury, May-thurner syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, brachial plexus injury, chronically (6 years) fractured rib, bilateral shoulder arthritis, loss of use of my hands, frozen feet. I lost my career as a physician. He overcorrected a mild scoliosis, then treated me with derision in both the medical records and in person. His lack of ethics, his process of causing damage to patients in a transactional manner is inhumane. Larry fractured L5 on purpose and ignored it. It never healed. He fractured T3 by mistake and ignored it. He also broke my 3rd rib, and destroyed spinal nerve T8. Nyp legal eaglets send me threatening letters with no signature, blocking my care. NYP hospital, legal affairs and dr sociopath have taken no personal responsibility and hid behind derisive and dismissive medical notes. When I walked into his office, simply wanting broken hardware removed, banking on his reputation, I was sentenced to disfigurement, relentless pain and total disability. Larry literally ignored flagged underdosed medication errors. His office troglodyte, Robert, cancelled my appts thrice with other spine surgeons when I searched for help. 4 subsequent spinal surgeries, vascular surgery, orthopedic surgery to repair Lenke’ overcorrected spinal mess, left me with dislocated thumb and dislocated left hip, and vascular stents, etc. He should be sharing a cell with Dr death in Texas. I am not the first victim of this malignant ego to be badly damaged enough to need neurosurgical rescue. He is well known to Mt Sinai, NYU and HSS ortho, rheum. for creating patients for their surgeons to repair. The patient advocate employed by NYP sent me to the ER at NYU because of his office’ malfeasance and avoidance of care. My story is not unique, but my knowledge as a surgeon is. Go elsewhere for help with a damaged back if you value all that is dear to you. An oversight committee at nyp is badly needed. He needs to be held accountable.

I just came back from a visit to Dr. Lenke’s office because he came highly recommended from an orthopedic surgeon. I have had a lot of surgeons and doctors in my lifetime, so maybe my bar is just a little skewed but I left… less than impressed. Dr. Lenke spoke quickly and mumbled throughout the entire brief appointment I had with him after waiting an hour in a hot hospital room. It was very hard to understand him. I decided to hold off on surgery because it would be a total reconstruction for me, and I felt that the moment I told them this their demeanor changed toward me, like I was wasting their time. I had gone to the appointment because I was told Dr. Lenke was the best, only to be greeted by a doctor who mumbled through his mask and a brush off the moment I said I didn’t want to do surgery- which should always be considered as the very last resort, especially with someone like me who has had so many previous surgeries. I traveled from out of state for the appointment, and felt like it was a waste of time and money. I was also not impressed with the hospital itself, and would never want to have surgery there. I’m sure that Dr. Lenke has improved the life of many patients. But his bedside manner, as someone who has had multiple open heart surgeries, was the deal breaker. It does seem to be that the spine center at Allen hospital is basically a boutique money making enterprise to save an otherwise less than impressive hospital. If I eventually decide to do the surgery, I will look elsewhere.

Google his name and call his office. The man is a miracle worker. He doesn't accept alot of insurances, but if you need to upgrade, do it. Its 100% worth it.
