It is an older system but it is beneficial. I do believe cryo is helpful.

I tried cryotherapy for the first time this weekend as it alleviated so much of the chronic pain that I've been having related to autoimmune as well as anxiety issues. At first, I was nervous about the idea, but after realizing the risks are very minimal when it's done right, I decided to give it a chance and I'm so pleased. I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of this as I continue. Many thanks to Crystal for talking to me during my treatment and being super pleasant.

WBC “tricks” your body into implementing the same responses it would if you were freezing without the discomfort. Your body works much harder than normal in order to heat your body up. Consequently, it’s been reported that 500-800 calories are burned as a result of each session. When the body senses cold the brain releases norepinephrine, a chemical that essentially ignites the fat-burning process within brown fat. When there is not enough brown fat, the body has to turn to less-efficient heat-generating models, such as shivering. Chronic activation of brown fat [by exposing them to low temperatures or to drugs that target brown fat] is associated with a reduction in liver fat, a resistance to diet-induced obesity and improvement in insulin release.
Whole body cryotherapy stimulates the body's natural healing abilities. WBC uses extreme cold to induce responses on three levels: the circulatory system, the energy meridians and the nervous system. The therapeutic application of extremely cold dry air, usually between −110°C and −140°C triggers a systemic anti-inflammatory response that activates organs, muscles, joints, and skin to heal and repair themselves.
Here are several indications for Cryotherapy: Athletic Performance Post-Surgical Recovery Weight Management Fibromyalgia Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Osteoarthritis Rheumatoid Arthritis Osteoporosis Multiple Sclerosis Phantom Pain Chronic Pain Syndrome Ankylosing Sponylitis Inflammation of the Spine, Muscle Pain and Inflammation Depression and Mood Disorders Immune System Improvement Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness Central Nervous System Disease Degenerative Disease of Joints and Spine Inflammation of Tendons, Bursa, Joint Capsules.
Despite extremely low temperatures, this treatment is very safe. The nitrogen being used to cool the cryosauna is the same nitrogen that makes up the air we breathe (actually 78% of it). In order to protect the more temperature sensitive tissues such as hands and feet, patients wear dry socks, slippers, and gloves. During each session the body releases endorphins, which are hormones that make person feel good and energetic.
WBC should not be used if you: Are pregnant Have cold-induced asthma Have an open wound or sore (including teeth abscesses) Have severe hypertension Have hyperthyroidism Have tumor diseases Have a heart or cardiovascular and respiratory disease (which may include heart disease, hyper- or hypotension, angina, heart failure ischemic heart disease or other rhythmic conditions) Have acute respiratory disease Have a pacemaker Have peripheral arterial disease (Fontaine Stages III & IV ) Expired venous thrombosis Have seizures Have bacterial and viral skin infections Have acute kidney and urinary tract disease Are under the influence of drugs or alcohol Heart attack which dates less then 6 months Have severe anemia Have Raynaud’s syndrome Have Polyneuropathy
Your body’s natural healing mechanisms are transported via your blood. WBC “tricks” your body into implementing the same responses it would if you were freezing, which means blood moves more quickly than normal in order to warm your extremities. Increased, hormone- and enzyme-rich blood flow means increased oxygen content, minimized toxins, and enhanced muscle recovery.
The sessions are 2-3 minutes for the Whole-Body Cryotherapy sessions and 3-5 minutes for the local or facial cryotherapy sessions.
