They have never called about my husband check or survival benefits. When I called no one ever answers. Someone messed up his claim and they had to reenter claim . I just want a phone call . It has been 14 months since his passing and still nothing is taken care of. Why do we work

Trying to reach Martinsburg WV office and Have spent an hour on hold with both local and toll free numbers and non toll free numbers. Just got hung up on with no person answering for a third time. I am sure pretending to transfer me to an agent and just letting it ring till it hangs up greatly improves their customer service performance metrics because it is recorded that my call was sent to an agent within their 15 minute service performance standard. so they are looking pretty good to the management but it’s phony performance numbers.

Wish I could give zero stars. This office is a nightmare. Absolutely, the worse organized professional agency I have ever had to deal with. They have a drop box for you to drops documents off, but guaranteed they will somehow "disappear." They need some serious training.

Maybe insurance thru them. Over payment or they need you to redo paperwork or if you are working too much then they might not pay you. They should of sent you some kind of paperwork on why or you should be able to call and find out.
Really think about if you want to change it. Once you change it with social security it is really hard to change it back.
My case was filed in January 2014 and finally approved in July 2017.
Some people go in and wait. It is best to have an appointment. Cuts out a lot of waiting

Your personal information. All documentation of your disability. Your last 2 pay check stubs. A list of all jobs and when you worked there. You can sign up online, at www.socialsecurity.gov.
You should go in about 1 month before you turn 70.
You can go to legal aid. They help you apply for SSI. Or you can go to ssa.gov and apply. You would have to do one for each child. I used legal aid. They would be your advocate. The more documentation you have on there condition the better.
You can do that online
Funeral home usually reports death to SSA but you can call your local office and speak to someone
Birth certificate (or passport) and proof of identity (driver's license or state ID)
Just Take Your Marriage Certificate Out To The Social Security Office.
