I was referred by someone, almost 4 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for them to get back to me, you're not able to contact them by a personal phone call, only able to leave a voicemail. I guess taking new cases is not something there into.

Andrew Mathis and his team of paralegals got my Disability case together for my recent hearing 1/6. They're attentive, thorough & do follow-up. If looking for Disability lawyer's I highly recommend this firm. Disability is all they do. Update 2/23 I won my disability case! It's been a few year's which felt even longer. I'm looking forward to getting detailed info and starting again with at least a little income. Thank you Andrew Mathis.

Questions & Answers

Do I need to get a Social Security Disability representative?

Getting a professional advocate to help you with your Social Security Disability application or appeal can improve your chances of winning benefits. When you reach the level of a hearing with an administrative law judge, a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that people with representatives are almost three times more likely to be awarded benefits. Most people get denied benefits at first. Social Security has thousands of rules for disability claims. Working with an advocate who knows this system in-depth makes the process easier for you. It spares you from doing all the legwork and helps you avoid mistakes. You are not required by law to have a representative, but at Mathis & Mathis Disability Advocates, we highly recommend it.

The Social Security Disability process is an entire separate legal system all on its own. Mathis & Mathis Disability Advocates has been helping people get through this process in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and across the Mid-Atlantic region for decades. We’ve helped thousands of people. Some of our senior staff members used to work for the Social Security Administration. We know the system inside and out, literally. It’s important to have an advocate who is local, experienced and caring about your needs when you can’t work because of serious health problems. Social Security Disability is all we do. Call us!

How much does it cost to get a Mathis & Mathis disability representative working for me?

Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020
Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020

You pay no fee until you win Social Security Disability benefits. And even then, you only pay out of the lump sum back benefits you’re awarded for the time you waited on approval. Our advocate fee doesn’t come out of your pocket or out of your monthly checks going forward.

When in the process should I get a disability advocate?

You should start working with an advocate as soon as you realize you can’t work and need Social Security Disability benefits. When you’re applying, your advocate can make sure your application is correct and strong. If you’re denied benefits, it’s best to have an advocate on board immediately because you face short deadlines to file an appeal. And appeals are much more complicated than applications. An advocate can help you avoid mistakes and make the process run as smoothly as possible for you.

Does Mathis & Mathis help with my initial disability application?

Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020
Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020

Yes. And not every disability firm will do that. Some will tell you to come back after you’ve been denied. But getting professional help with your first application can help you avoid mistakes and unnecessary delays later. Give us a call!

Can Mathis & Mathis represent me in a disability hearing?

Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020
Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020

Absolutely. Your hearing with a Social Security Disability administrative law judge (ALJ) is an important moment in your claim. It could be one of your best chances to win benefits. An experienced disability advocate from Mathis & Mathis can prepare you to talk to the judge, handle procedural matters in your hearing and question medical or vocational experts who could testify about you and whether they think you’re unable to work.

I applied for Social Security Disability benefits and was denied. What can I do now?

Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020
Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020

This isn’t the end. You can appeal Social Security’s decision. In fact, most people get denied benefits. It’s often during appeals when they’re finally able to secure disability income. The appeals process gives you multiple chances to win approval for benefits. But it’s a complicated process. Mathis & Mathis Disability Advocates has been through this thousands of times. We can guide you through, too.

What do Social Security Disability benefits provide?

Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020
Mathis & Mathis, The Disability Advocates | Oct 20, 2020

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) gives you monthly checks to pay for your essential needs. When you qualify for SSDI, you also qualify for Medicare health care coverage to pay for your ongoing treatment. When you can’t work because of serious health problems, and your income stops, these benefits help preserve your sense of dignity and independence. Call Mathis & Mathis Disability Advocates for help getting approved.
