The Sedgewick was great but then came under the management of Daro Realty who still haven't paid us our security deposit after we moved out in April.

I've never written a Google review before... But decided I needed to in hopes of helping others out. The new management company has been renovating empty units which means jackhammering/noise all day so bad that my apartment shakes. Water is shut off from 9-5 every day - which means no water in sinks or shower, unable to flush toilets - and the office is unable to say when all of this will end. (They said I could come down to the office to pick up some water bottles so I could brush my teeth and flush my toilet.) There is no type of rent concession, just a reminder from the leasing office that "we are all in this together." (Even though I am not benefitting from any of the renovations myself, and am still paying excessively high rent for a unit with no central air, no dishwasher, and no in unit laundry.) On top of all of this, the building itself has a horrible smell that has existed since I moved in almost a year ago. The hallways & elevator smell so bad, almost all the time. Also, there is no trash closet or chute, so you have to take your garbage outside the building and around the back. Packages frequently get stolen, and if they aren't stolen, they are in a pile in a messy basement mail room. PLEASE, save yourself. Look elsewhere.

Three stars for the friendly staff and great location. Took stars off for the state the apartment is in. I love the location and the apartment is affordable, but the walls are a wreck and the layout is almost impossible to furnish. We have a one bedroom and the floorplan seems like it was definitely cut from a larger apartment. There are no outlets in the bathroom (good luck doing your hair) and only one in the kitchen behind the fridge. The walls have many damage scars that were poorly patched and painted over. There are so many coats of sloppy paint that it chips off in large chunks and has actual drips like stalagmites made from layers of paint. The hallways also reek of weed and cooking gas. If you are a professional looking for a long term place to live, look elsewhere. If you are just moving to town or a student or person that doesnt mind the frustration, this is a great central location to get to know the city.

Overall enjoy the building. The leasing, management and maintenance staff are wonderful. I would prefer there to be tile in the elevators as the carpet often has an odor, but otherwise the building is great - especially for the price.

NW is known for being a residential place, crime has no zip code.
We do allow pets at The Sedgewick. We do have some breed restrictions.
We are located in the heart of Dupont near clubs, lounges, the infamous U Street, and restaurants in close proximity.
The Sedgewick has a newly renovated Bike Room, where you can hang you bike with secure access.
The metro is 3 blocks from the Sedgewick.
There is no free onsite parking. There is only street parking where you must have a city resident permit or follow the 2 hr parking rules from 8am-6pm on weekdays. Parking is usually very competitive in this area.
