Terrible, horrible service. My daughter (9 years old) LOVES sushi, and we live 1 block from this restaurant. We, in the moment, decided to eat here, because we had used to visit 2-3 years ago (pre-Covid; just realized from other reviews that pre-Covid it was “Sumo’s Hibachi,” but now it’s a different company). Upon our arrival, the manager asked us if we had reservations, and we said “no.” She said “that’s ok.” This restaurant is two small rooms with no wall or divider in between. The front room is dining booths and the sushi bar; the back room is about 4 hibachi-cooking areas. We asked to sit at the sushi bar, but the manager tried to sit us at the booth nearest the front door (there is no separate lobby area). She did NOT use common sense or did NOT even think to mention to us that in 30 minutes, a live performance would start playing in the tiny area that blocks the front door entrance/exit. The sushi bar is also near that door. Her failure to warn us was made worse by her final remarks as we later left the venue. Half-way through our second course of sushi (we were thinking of getting another course of selections), 5-7 musicians ENTIRELY of DRUMS and METAL CYMBALS began pounding away for 30 minutes non-stop! The volume was unbearable! It belonged in a high-school auditorium or gymnasium with high ceilings and much more space. It ruined our entire experience. My heart was racing, so of course my daughter’s was too! We couldn’t even hear each other trying to talk directly in each other’s ears! After I asked for the bill, our server couldn’t care enough to pick up my cash to make change; instead he was oblivious to our frustration as he was using his iPhone to record the performance! We stood there waiting for him for 5-10 minutes just to get my money change! Another server could see our unhappiness and asked if we were ok. I told the manager about this ruined experience, that it was a terrible idea to put this constant clanging in this small restaurant. She had the temerity to blame us! She said we should have looked up the event on the website (note: I cannot find any website listing this event for this restaurant). I replied: “so you’re only thought is to effectively tell us, ‘too bad, it’s your fault’?” Sushi is not cheap; nobody should walk away from the bill I paid with such a terrible service-experience. Buyer beware!!!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Wow. Where is Sumo. What a mistake it was to go there last night. First the service took forever. My son was brought chicken instead of shrimp and then my husband who explained he had an allergy to shrimp was brought shrimp tempura. When I spoke ti the manager she was extremely rude and didn’t rush out the mistaken orders. My son and husband waited 20 minutes for their meals that we had already waited a long time for. The tempura finally came and my husband ate it because he was starving. He found raw flour on the inside of his broccoli. I expected to be comped for the tempura as our bill was over $130. When I expressed that doe to the major health risk and how long it took, I didn’t think we should pay for the tempura, the manager said she had to call the owner. She came back and said she could take off 10% of the tempura a whopping $1.60. We will never go back to be treated with such inconsideration and lack of management making things right. I don’t know how they will survive with such poor customer service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE! Trust me. I emailed the owner before posting this to give him an opportunity to make things right with us and no response.

Service was horrible. Waited 1 hour & 15 minutes to be seated & an extra hour to just get a drink & my order taken. Another 25 minutes before an hibachi chef came out & served us. My order was taken wrong & was told I would be accommodated & wasn’t. Would not recommend. Use to love this place.
