The absolute worse place to take a dog. We have had a dog owners worse nightmare experience with this place. One of our precious Yorkies (14 yrs. old) has been experience sever diarrhea, including blood off and on for nearly a year. We took him in and the vet treated him with antibiotics and stomach meds. This did not help and he once again started the process. We called and spoke to the Vet who said more testing could be done but at his age we might wanted to consider euthanasia. We anguished over this decision for 3 weeks. My husband called to schedule the appointment deciding it was in his best interest not to have to continue to suffer. He has lost weight and has good days and bad days. They informed my husband on the phone that it was the owner’s decision whether to stay during the process. They actually scheduled the appointment. Today with hearts wrenched we dropped him off after saying our goodbyes. Before we could get back home the vet called and said why did you bring him in he seems fine. We can’t ethically euthanize him. When we recounted the entire process of what we had been told she denied saying what she suggested. We are responsible and loving pet owners. Our Yorkies are groomed monthly, we have them placed in the finest kennel when we leave town. We buy specialty food for them, we would never have them euthanized without a vet recommendation. This is a horrible place and rest assured we will tell everyone of this experience.

On July 4, my sweet girl broke her leg. Kodas diagnosis was oblique fractured right radius and ulna. I was told by the ER to find an orthopedic surgeon. Not even how soon I had to do it or no real instructions. I had spent a whole day calling around to find an office, going out as far as DC. If they had a orthopedic surgeon it was either out of my price range or they were booked out months. I knew with how bad her break was there was no way this could wait. I got quoted 5k+ which was completely out of my price range given I pay for all my expenses by myself. I knew I could push 2-3k. By the end of the day I was losing hope, I was frustrated, sad, I felt like a terrible parent for not being prepared. I called AMC and I think the receptionist told me they were months out and I remember I just lost it. I just started crying on the phone and I begged her to ask the Dr. To look at the xrays. I knew this couldn't wait. She actually listened to me, went to go speak to him and came back and told me this couldn't wait if I could come in the next day for surgery. I literally cried happy tears I couldn't help but be so grateful. The Dr. Was able to reattach with a plate. It took her 2 months of recovery, she is now without a a cast and we take daily walks to get her leg back to normal. I want to say thank you to the receptionist. I may not remember your name but I'll always remember your face and what you did for me. I remember you walked into our first app just to meet her. I was so glad to meet you and thank you personally. Thank you to the Dr for doing it so last minute right before a family emergency of his own. Thank you for helping me and listening. I don't have kids but these pups are my kids. Thank you for making this within my price range too. 110% recommend this place. Thank you for helping my girl on her road to recovery.

I've been going here for 20 years and unfortunately the place has tanked recently. They are unorganized and looking to make as much money off you as they can. What should have been a $600 neuter for my dog ended up costing close to $2,000. I found a stray kitten and, because they didn't think about how vaccines should be scheduled, had me come in like 5 times in her first 13 weeks (insisting that she had to be "examined" by a doctor each time so they could charge me). I've completely lost confidence with them and would highly recommend you go elsewhere unless you like paying through the nose for useless services. Run, don't walk.

Questions & Answers

Are they taking new patients

No. I just found this out.

My dog is not eating and is skin and bones. He has a tumor encircling his throat and one 🕜 on his hip. He is in pain, what can I give him to ease his pain?

Your sweet dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian. Please do not give over the counter pain medications as most human pain medication is unsafe for dogs. Your veterinarian can prescribe the proper medication(s) to ease your dog's discomfort.
