Traffic ... What will it take for the light @ 234/29 timing to be updated. This is pathetic. Dump truck traffic and poor timing makes going through the park a missersble experience. Incompetent government at its best. The park itself is beautiful.

Definitely in my top 5 most scenic places in Virginia! Why, you ask? First off, you cannot find a more awe-inspiring inland sunset anywhere, except maybe from the top of a mountain, but point is, the sprawling open fields with a smattering of tall grassfields and the Shenandoahs in the distant background make for amazing views. Parking is also free, and the best part, the whole park is open from dawn to dusk! For most photographers, this is pretty much as good as it gets without having to pay an admission fee or photography permit. For videographers, I suggest visiting the website to get more information, but generally, groups of 5 people are allowed to film without additional prerequisites, but it won't hurt to call ahead to make sure. The visitor's center does have normal business hours so be prepared and use the restroom before visiting outside of that time frame. There's plenty of hiking trails, a few picnic spots, and even areas that allow for horseback riding. Just be ready for a lot of walking and wear comfortable shoes if you're planning to enjoy the several trails here. As for food choices, it's within 5 minutes of some fast food restaurants and a short 10 minute drive to Centreville, which has a wide assortment of cuisines to enjoy. Definitely highly recommended for any history buffs and outdoor lovers. If you're only in the area for a short while, it is definitely worth your time as well!

Yes, there is. There is a lot if open space for a blanket and a picnic basket!
Check their website (s), sub to their lists, &/or call (s).
It took us a good two hours, but that was with Washington DC evening traffic. Expressways can't get you the whole way, so expect traffic lights and 45 mph roads for a fair part of the way.
No just from DC to Vienna take orange train. Transfer to a bus in west F chuch to Manassas.
Parts are major roads thru the park, and there is a driveway to the office building with some parking there, walking, maybe bicycling along paths... Check Google maps or something for aerial views, maybe a trail park map on the NPS.gov park site...
Dogs are allowed, on leash only, anywhere except for in the buildings or restrooms. It's a great place to walk dogs because it's uncrowded most of the time. Certain areas do have a higher volume of visitors when the weather is nice, but there are other areas that are less crowded. Just keep them on a leash and bring bags to clean up after them.
According to their website, Manassas National Park is open year round, from sunrise to sunset every day. Entrance and parking is free! You should be able to walk freely around the park grounds, and there's a nice mini-museum at the welcome center. That said, there are no park events or activities scheduled for November on their calendar.
We found that Chinn Ridge on the opposite side of sudley is rarely crowded
Some of them, yes - there are postings of what is allowed along trails (walking, biking, horse riding, etc.).
It is free to the public, donations are welcome. They offer guided tours which I recall having a minimal fee. But is only done twice a day at set times.
If you are hunting ghosts have at it.
Bull Run Recreation park is 5 miles away and can accommodate any size Rv
Yes! Actually September is a great time to visit. Battlefield can get very hot in the summer.
Depending on what you want to do. Buildings are monuments are spread across the entire site in clusters. There are lots of trails. Reccomend go to visitor's center, pay the fee, see the movie and the electric map, then look around the museum portion. About 2hrs. Then you can drive to the various main points with some walking. Stone house is not always open. I'd say maybe 4 hours to see all the main points. If you want to hike trails, I'd plan differently, and figure on subsequent visits.
We enjoy the battlefield. The kids love to walk the trails. I have often seen deer.
Yes
There is a large parking lot at the visitor center.
There are no camping facilities and camping is *not* allowed on the battlefield. The park is open from sunrise to sunset
