The self test machine didn't work for my car. So I have to go to the service center to have my car tested......

Saturday afternoon is not the best time to go: I was fourth in line when I got there, and by the time I got to the kiosk, there were eight cars behind me...pro tip: locate your OBD port *before* you go πŸ™‚

Kiosk was great. There should be more of them, and the fee should be lower.

The machine is responsive and I had no issues during my visit. Make sure to bring your emissions inspection notice with you (saves you the trouble of putting in all the information manually). Super easy and was done within 5 minutes.

Questions & Answers

Why does it advertise 24-hours when it's clearly NOT?

Well if you pay attention to the back of the notice that you receive ot will tell you on the back, if you look it up online it will also tell you and if you contact veip or the mva they will also tell you, and with that being said the station isn't 24hrs but they have a 24hr self serve kiosk which you will have to do everything by yourself without any assistance good luck

i failed my emmision test and got my vehicle service. if i fail again, what should i do

No limit on how many times you can do it, if you can’t get the problem fixed that comes up from the fail codes you can literally go back once a month and have it tested to stay legal . This obviously isn’t the ideal situation but my mother has bad converters and can’t afford the $3,000 or more to have them fixed and can’t afford a new car she goes every month to emissions and pays the $14 or so just to stay legal and this was advice from emissions them selves . I’m sure the first few times it’s not once a month but eventually it will come to that to stay on the road , I hope this helps . As long as your getting your test by the due dates it can fail non stop with no penalty to you here in Anne Arundel county my mother has been doing it for almost a year straight now.
