La Plata Manor Apartments (Seniors 62+)

Hi all, I had the pleasure to move into La Plata Manor in La Plata, MD. To live here is in such a high demand that I was on the wait list for almost three years, but it was well worth the wait. I love this place. When I signed up for La Plata Manor I also signed up for more than a dozen other similar facilities, most of them are in Virginia. After about two years some of those places started to come available, but I stuck with La Plata Manor for several reasons: 1) by staying in Charles County I only had to change my address, not my Doctors, insurances or other important factors: 2) I was still near my home town; 3) I was still near all my friends; and 4) I heard nothing but good things about the Manor. After living here for a while, I am so glad this is where I landed and to repeat myself ‘I love the place’. There are a lot of residence that live here and that means a lot of smiles to be had by all. The staff is personable and well respected by everyone here and their family members. Sharon Hardesty is the Community Manager and she always meets me with a smile, wave and good words and gets right on any question or concern I might have. The attached photos show the exercise, community, computer, billiard and mail rooms. What is not shown in the photos are the very convenient trash shoots on each floor and the in house laundry room. I would encourage anyone looking for senior housing to consider La Plata Manor.

I lived there three years out of necessity. The residents are rough... they mind your business, tattle tale if you breach the slightest picky rule, the place insults any dignity you might have acquired during your more active years. Sharon is nice, the maintenance man and cleaning lady are very nice.... but whenever so many needy and infirm people are that close in proximity, it kind of spawns an unhealthy environment where it is almost impossible to thrive and find joy in life. Your autonomy is pretty much gone in this place.... if you have a choice, never go there. Just saying. I was evicted twice. Glad I am outa there.

I went into this place for a possible pharmacy client. I went to introduce myself and let them know who I was. Out of habit, I play with my lanyard. I spin it. I spin poi for fun. It just became a habit. The receptionist yelled at me saying she felt threatened and nervous and started approaching me slowly and tried to grab my arm. Told her not to touch me and proceeded to walk out. The reception is rude and beligerent. I refuse to go to this place.
