I had two older children, 12 and 14 years ago. I had horrible experiences with theirs births, never felt listened-to by the doctors. I knew this time around I wanted to feel supported and do things as close to 'my way' as possible. We transferred to Willow mid-way through my pregnancy. From day one, I felt like they listened to everything I needed and wanted. I had preeclampsia with both my earlier pregnancies. They gave me some great tips on how to avoid it. Because of them, I was able to skip the hospital and have the birth I truly wanted. I felt the support the entire way through labor, birth and afterwards. I am so glad I found Willow and will definitely be continuing with them, whether I have more children or not. Bonus points for the gorgeous facility too!

I wanted to provide a review that was as honest as possible. Throughout my pregnancy, I loved coming to Willow and appreciated the care from all of the midwives. It is a caring environment and I was excited to give birth here. However, the end of my pregnancy left a bad taste in my mouth and unfortunately, I would not return to Willow or recommend it to anyone, especially a first time mom. At week 40, I learned that my baby was in breech position at my Willow appointment with Jana. It was my first full term pregnancy and I couldn’t differentiate my son’s position in my belly. I just knew his regular movements. I am 98% sure that my baby did not move position from weeks 36-40. But every week a midwife had felt my belly or looked at me with an ultrasound. It is a little surprising to me that none of those midwives were able to tell he was a breech position, except for Jana, even with an ultrasound available. Because he was so big at week 40, I could not find a doctor that would do an ECV and my baby did not flip on his own. I had to have a c-section at the hospital which was the total opposite of what I wanted for my birthing experience. I am glad it all worked out and we are both healthy and okay but I am disappointed that I didn’t even get the chance to do an ECV because no one could tell he was in breech until the last minute. Had I not seen Jana for that appointment, I’m sure that it would have turned into an emergency situation at Willow when I did go into labor. In addition, earlier in the pregnancy I was told I could self-pay for a genetics screening to which I agreed. But the screening was then charged to my insurance and I ended up paying $670 rather than the self pay amount of $100 and it could not be reversed. I am sad that I am leaving this review because I did receive good care at Willow especially from Jana and Pam, who I found to be most knowledgeable and caring. I am especially thankful to Jana for finding me another doctor last minute (Dr. Hervey at Banner Desert, who was amazing) because I was already under so much stress at that time. But I guess since it is a place for low-risk pregnancies, they may not be as skilled at identifying high-risk situations early on.

I couldn't have asked for a better birth experience! ALL of the midwives that cared for me throughout my pregnancy, laboring, and postpartum made me feel so cared for. Birth is painful and doing it unmedicated is intense, but the support I received from Rachel during active labor made the experience so emotionally comforting and empowering. I will definitely be having all of my future babies here.

I have had two babies at Willow and cannot reccomend the experience enough. The midwives are knowledgeable and attentive, but also give you the space you might need during labor to do what you need to do, offering suggestions and support, but not being overly pushy. After your baby is born, they cook you an amazing meal and let me tell you, it is an awesome spread and will feel like some of the best food you have ever eaten after all that hard work!

We do accept VBACs (after one cesarean section) on a case by case basis at the birth center and for home birth.
No, if your really high risk a hospital is the safest place to have your baby. But it really depends on WHY you are high risk. A lot of moms are labeled that with no real reason. An interview with the Midwifes would be your best screening tool. ❤️
