My girlfriends and I wanted small tattoos, we did our research and chose James because based on his work with fine lines on IG. We did have to wait to find an appointment that worked for all of us, including him, but from the tattoo itself to his customer service it was worth the wait.

I got a portrait of my dog from James and I have to say. It was the best tattoo experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve been tattooed a LOT (I am also a tattooer). He was extremely polite, respectful, clean, nice, and may I say also incredibly talented at what he does. If you are looking for fine line tattoos, HE IS THE BEST. PERIOD. He also happened to do my first tattoo back in 2016 and even though it’s extremely small handwriting, it looks JUST as good as it did when I got it. Also I would just like to add: I have had bad experiences with male tattooers (being arrogant or feeling like they’re pressuring me) but he made me feel 100% comfortable and respected. His shop was beautiful and I felt very at ease there. He did a wonderful job. 10/10!!!!!!

We love Shelter Tattoo! We came in and took some photos of the shop/owner and it was such a great experience. This is definitely the best tattoo artist in houston. Super professional, clean, cool, and unique. We loved how our photos came out, as well as our video. We hope to work with Shelter again in the future!!
