Absolutely loved our stay at Prospector. We were in site 23 and had a LOT of room and beautiful views. Firewood available for $7 at the host's campsite (#67). We rented bikes in Silverthorne, just a 20 min drive, and did the entire loop around Lake Dillon which was gorgeous. Highly recommend camping here!

Very clean and well kept. Some unconsider camper decided to take our reserved spot, but the park keepers were very kind and even though they couldn't find the person in out spot, she did us one better and set us up on a site with water view that took our breath away and made our trip 100 times better. She was so kind and had such an amazing positive vibe we forgot about the issue in a hot minute. Bathrooms are super clean, no trash anywhere. Overall an amazing experience

The D loop had some great sites. As a family we have been camping only dispersed areas to give our dogs more room to run. However, this campground was nice enough that we'll be back.

We were in the 50's- loop D- and still enjoyed privacy not shade though. We walked around through all of them and they all have a good amount of space.
There's a month long state wide fire ban, so no fires allowed. Its been smokey, but camping should be pretty good though other than that.
You can come anytime after your reservation.
Some sites have it but not all of them. You should be able to see what is available on recreation.gov when looking to book.
Prospector Campground has 107 sites and magnificent scenery...but no hook-ups. Outstanding value! Water spigots and toilet facilities are located in every loop. Give "boondocking" a try for a couple of days! Try it.... you'll love it!
The official website states that the park will close for the season on October 5th.
