Best church ever, been going there for 10 years. Bible loving church showcasing Tradition Christian Teaching in a non pretentious way.

Updating this review after 4 years here at the church. Still 5 stars, but let's call it time-tested. In this place we've found a community of believers who sincerely love the Lord and want to know Him more. That overflows into their choices, their everyday lives, and into being on mission to tell others. We've walked through challenges and tragedy, suffering and sin, and the messiness of life with this body and they've been kind, patient, encouraging, and always pointed us back to God's Word. They love well. Our 3 kids have been growing up in this community, and it's forming their thoughts about God and their view of themselves in the world—and there's nowhere I'd rather have them. While none of us here are perfect, we have a savior who is—and I see Him in the people I walk alongside here, which to me is the highest complement I can give to a church. The leaders, including the elders/pastors, are open, vulnerable, humble, and teachable. The model how we should live, and are trustworthy to follow as they follow after Christ. There's not some back-room dialog about how to maximize numbers of look better. Just a desire to be faithful with what they've been given. They talk about the weak areas in our church and act on them. They sincerely pray for the pastors and churches around us. The men and women in the diaconate serve the needs of our body, but are just an extension of how those needs are already being served in community. I know many of the staff personally, see them in their day to day lives, and have walked alongside them through hard seasons now and seen the quality of their character by the grace of God. Overall it's been a blessing and a bit of a healing experience having come from a long season in a church culture that had turned tragically toxic. Providence is known as a place that loves and holds God's Word highly, but I'd add that's not merely some academic exercise. By doing so they've rightly order the other things, and are able to love people well because they have a right view of who God is and who we all are. And when someone falls out of line, it's self-correcting because they're surrounded by people who love them and know God's Word to remind them of those truths. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. If you're reading this, I hope you'll come join us and experience this yourself. We're usually at the early service, so come find us and we'll help get you plugged in!

Questions & Answers

Does the church have community outside of Sunday??? Aka... small groups, Life Groups, Home groups.

Yes! Community groups meet all around the area in homes on various days of the week, and a couple that meet at the church. There are also things like men's and women's Bible studies (currently in Romans) during the week, gospel outreach teams focused on equipping folks to share their faith and disciple others, and freedom groups for those working through a season of deep suffering or ongoing sin. I've never been a part of a church where I've experienced community like here. And the community is purposeful—not just for fellowship (which happens naturally) but with an emphasis on who God is and for us to be made more like Christ by being in the word, encouraging each other, working through sin and suffering that distort out view of God, and also being on mission in our day to day lives. Groups are diverse and not based on affinity, with a couple exceptions for young adults (who can participate in a specific group or normal groups). Source: just a member and love it here :)

Do you have a 9am service?
