Journey could take 2-4 days depending on the connections. Trsin system in 1914 was much more fragmented than today. Your traveler would deal with as nany as 6+ regionsl lines. Frisco was largest in dfw at the time but not the only one. Could come in from north through OK, south through new orleans and houston or east either through AR or shreeveport.
Steve Sanders layout is called Train Topia, it is running in the Discovery Center, which is located at 8004 Dallas Parkway, Frisco Texas 75034.
Guided tour only. You can walk around the outside of the fence and get a look at a lot of things but you can only go inside with a scheduled your. The tour is worth it though
Yes, they are fenced in.

It already is, that is what Traintopia is. It is in the Discovery Center and it is great. Their website has all the info.
The model trains are inside the building next to the rolling stock at that end of the building.
Yes.
They do tours on Wed-Sat. On hotter days, they will likely only do them around morning until noon because it gets too hot.
Wed through Saturday: 10am - 5 pm Sunday: 1pm - 5pm
