My family loves this trail! It is very nice to do in the early morning during summer time, or midmorning during fall and winter. I wouldn't say this is a moderate trail nor is it super easy, kind of in-between. I think it could be a good starting trail if you want to start getting into hiking. Also need to be careful of mountain bikers, this is also a biking trail. So sometimes it can be busy because of them. But those that ride on that trail often seem to be aware of the hikers.

Came here to ride Sunset Ridge and it was amazing! The climb to the top is tough and for good reason. This trail was no joke and definitely for advanced level riders. However there are plenty of other trails in this network suitable for riders of all levels. The Hawes Trail Alliance does an amazing job maintaining this place!

Hi Joseph. Though riding with someone will always be the safer choice, i have no problems riding it alone. I ride alone more often than not. Just make sure the trail is up to your riding ability.
Yes, on leash. Off leash dogs have been struck by fast mountain bikers, with the pet owner blaming the rider. Enjoy the trails ....
We hiked the trails any number of times last winter and had no problems. Who in the world is the crazy Jaffa man? We encountered other hikers and lots of bikers and everyone was friendly and courteous. Truly our most favorite place to hike.
