I grew up near here and always saw the store, so finally I decided to get certified with them. It was a seemless process. They worked with me and my family to get the classes and pool time as my work schedule is crazy. The team there is personable and knowledgeable. Helped us pick the best gear to fit our needs, gladly explained why would need or not need something. Didn't try to oversell us. Instructors where able to help when needed to build confidence in us when we doubted ourselves and gear. Overall, I am still a novice diver but with the instructions and help of the staff of this dive shop, I have fallen in love with the sport of diving and can't wait to gain more and more skills.

Questions & Answers

I'm thinking of signing my kids up for scuba classes. What's the minimum age requirement?

Great question! To sign up for any of the scuba courses, your child must be at least 10 years old. To sign up for a snorkeling course, the minimum age is 8 years. Feel free to contact Mary Ann or Joly at (513) 271-2800 to discuss in more detail. We love teaching kids to dive!!!

How costly is the lesson

Hi Aliyah. We have a few different classroom options with varying pricing structures. Please contact us at 513.271.2800 to discuss which option would work best for your needs

I suffer from extreme motion sickness and I'm not sure how this will impact my ability to dive. Have any of your certified divers found a way to deal with this? I'm hesitant to sign up for classes because of this.

All students are required to fill out a Medical Statement prior to getting in the water. One of the questions pertains to motion sickness. If you answer "Yes" to this question, you are required to see your physician to discuss this condition and obtain document sign-off. To answer your question, several of our divers experience sea sickness and deal with it via OTC remedies or even prescription medications. As stated, please discuss options with your physician.

I'm already certified, but it's been a while since I've been in the water. I have a trip coming up in a few months and I'd feel more comfortable if I got back in the water before I go. What can I do?

We offer the PADI ReActivate program, which will be used to update your dive skills and knowledge from the PADI Open Water Diver Course. We recommend this program if you haven't been in the water for a year or more. We begin with a short knowledge review followed by a pool session to assess your OW skills. Please call our shop at (513) 271-2800 to schedule!

After certification, what gear do you recommend I purchase first? Acquiring gear is a bit of a financial commitment, but I've heard that rental gear at some of the dive resorts can be a bit sketchy.

Many of our new divers choose to purchase their own wetsuit following certification. Finding the perfect fit with a rental is oftentimes a challenge, so taking the time to try on multiple brands / styles and purchasing your own will ensure your wetsuit serves its intended purpose... comfort, protection, and warmth. After that, purchasing your own dive computer is a good suggestion. We carry a variety of products in our shop, so please stop by for a fitting!

I keep hearing about shark dives (or even spotting sharks in general while diving). This makes me really anxious. Can you please tell me what I should know to hopefully calm my nerves?

Sharks are not the predatory creatures as depicted in the movies. If you are fortunate enough to encounter a shark on a dive, please remain calm and enjoy the beauty. The key is "don't act like food". What does that mean? Don't panic and try to flee. Our divers have encountered sharks on our many trips and truly enjoy the experience. Please call our shop or stop by to discus if you're still anxious!

My wife and I are planning a diving trip together, but we need help figuring out the best place to go. Can you make some recommendations and provide some details for us to get us started?

Of course we can! Mary Ann and Joly have both been diving for a very long time and have traveled the globe for diving adventures. We can recommend the best locations based on what you're looking for and can likely even provide details on the best diving resorts to stay at.If you have time, stop by our shop and speak to either Mary Ann or Joly!

Do I need my own gear to sign up for a course? If so, what do I need?

Tri-State Scuba | Oct 17, 2020
Tri-State Scuba | Oct 17, 2020

For the Snorkeling and Discover Scuba courses, you do not need your own gear. Rental of mask, fins, and snorkel is included in the course fee. All other scuba courses require that you purchase your own mask, fins, and snorkel prior to the 1st week of class. We have a nice selection of gear for sale in our shop and we will take the time to ensure proper fit! All other gear (BCD, regulator, wet suit, tank, weights) is included in your course fee.

I have a medical condition that I'm not certain will allow me to scuba dive. Do you have information that I could reference or take to my doctor?

Tri-State Scuba | Oct 17, 2020
Tri-State Scuba | Oct 17, 2020

All of our students are required to fill out a Medical Statement from the Recreational Scuba Training Council prior to getting in the water. This questionnaire contains a page of Yes/No medical questions. If there are any "Yes" answers, you are required to take the form to your physician for sign-off. Please give us a call at (513) 271-2800 if you have any questions!

Do you have your own pool? If not, where are your scuba and snorkeling courses conducted?

Tri-State Scuba | Oct 17, 2020
Tri-State Scuba | Oct 17, 2020

Yes we do! While not in the same building as our dive shop, it's only 0.2 miles down the road at 5729 Dragon Way. It's in the basement of the Colonial Center Building, which is right behind the Fifth Third Bank.

Do you organize dive trips through your shop? And if so, what kind of trips are currently on your schedule?

Tri-State Scuba | Oct 17, 2020
Tri-State Scuba | Oct 17, 2020
