I'm not a person to write a review, because I always give workers/restaurants the benefit of the doubt. But after countless experiences of the same thing, and after reading so many of the same exact comments, Don Pollo management should realize, and actively try to fix, the major customer service problem here. So many have written about "not being looked in the eyes," and we agree, along with other lack of service issues.

There was clearly something wrong with the employee who took my order. She acknowledged her register was open to take orders so I walked up to her. As she was taking my order she looked dazed, staring past me as if I was not standing in front of her. I shrugged it off the first time but she did this twice as I was placing my order. Clearly something was bothering her because I overheard her complaining to the second employee, maybe a manager because he was counting the money in the register. She definitely needs to work on her customer service skills. The food was pretty good, I ordered the 1/4 white with yuca and plantains. They are skimpy with their sauce. As you can see in my picture, they only give you one yellow sauce and one green sauce. I asked if I had to pay for the extra sauce (I love the yellow sauce) and the cook offered one more sauce and i wanted more than one more and was willing to pay. If you are in the Kensington area or willing to drive to Kensington I would recommend going to Crisp & Juicy.

I just ordered aguadito and a side of fried rice. I always order the same at the Montgomery mall location and the silver spring location, but at this location (Bethesda) the food is horrible. Literally, not even a dog would eat what I was served. The aguadito was a container of water with a lot of cooked white rice and a spoon of cilantro paste, not even mixed! And the chaufa barely had any color and flavor. A waste of money! I will not order from this location ever again! I feel insulted. Nobody who pays money for food should eat something like this! Disgusting!

WARNING: Stay away from this restaurant. First off, I live extremely close and have tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt on multiple occasions. However, after my experience with Don Pollo today, I am recommending stay away. Today (4/29/2021 1:05pm) I went in for chicken and when I got home (1 block away) I open my container of food and was presented with UNDER-COOKED BLOODY chicken, that was sitting inside running blood juices [SEE PICTURES]! I was completely disgusted, and promptly went back to return it. Now, I'm offered a replacement meal from the cashier who initially rang me up which, of course, I decline. The cashier retrieves the manager to give me a refund. The Manager comes over, doesn't acknowledge me in the slightest, says nothing to me and hands me a refund receipt, without making eye contact, without an apology or anything else. This type of poor customer service is intolerable and the level of food safety is apparent. There are kids who eat here and during a pandemic you should be paying extra attention to the INTERNAL temperature of your chicken. Bloody chicken can lead to many illnesses some FATAL to people with weak immune systems. I'm glad I knew the difference between uncooked chicken, but think of a KID who will just eat whats placed in front of them not knowing the difference. The only place I recommend Don Pollo (Bethesda) to- the Montgomery County Health Department. Where I will be writing to after this review (which will hopefully help others).
